NRO: Is Obama Still President?
Minutemen News ^ | October 30, 2013 | Staff

Posted on 10/30/2013 5:17:55 PM PDT by yoe

We are currently learning whether the United States really needs a president. Barack Obama has become a mere figurehead, who gives speeches few listen to any more, issues threats that scare fewer, and makes promises that almost no one believes he will keep. Yet America continues on, despite the fact that the foreign and domestic policies of Barack Obama are unraveling, in a manner unusual even for star-crossed presidential second terms.

Abroad, American policy in the Middle East is leaderless and in shambles after the Arab Spring — we’ve had the Syrian fiasco and bloodbath, leading from behind in Libya all the way to Benghazi, and the non-coup, non-junta in Egypt. This administration has managed to unite existential Shiite and Sunni enemies in a shared dislike of the United States. While Iran follows the Putin script from Syria, Israel seems ready to preempt its nuclear program, and Obama still mumbles empty “game changers” and “red line” threats of years past.

We have gone from reset with Russia to Putin as the playmaker of the Middle East. The Persian Gulf sheikhdoms are now mostly anti-American. The leaders of Germany and the people of France resent having their private communications tapped by Barack Obama — the constitutional lawyer and champion of universal human rights. Angela Merkel long ago grasped that President Obama would rather fly across the Atlantic to lobby for a Chicago Olympic Games — or tap her phone — than sit through a 20th-anniversary commemoration of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan are beginning to see that the U.S. is more a neutral than a friend, as Obama negotiates with Putin about reducing the nuclear umbrella that protects America’s key non-nuclear allies. Perhaps they will soon make the necessary adjustments. China, Brazil, and India care little that Barack Obama still insists he is not George W. Bush, or that he seems to be trying to do to America what they seek to undo in their own countries.

“Was Nixon convicted?”

Nixon resigned before the Senate voted on conviction. He almost certainly would have been convicted had he not resigned.

Remember Nixon’s own party in Congress turned against him making the job of his Democrat opponents easier. So far the Democrats are united in defending and protecting Obama.

With respect to the politics of impeachment and conviction, Boehner and Cantor have no stomach for using the appropriations power of the House to reign in spending. It is hard to envision House Republicans who consistently cave to Obama on any contentious issue bring up articles of impeachment, much less voting to impeach. In fact, they are failing to take advantage of the public furor over Obamacare (look at the failure to rip Sebelius apart today) and seem to be preparing to cave on immigration.

Moving to the Senate most of the 25 Republicans who opposed Ted Cruz on the Obamacare cloture vote do not have the stomach to impeach Obama. It is difficult to imagine any Democrat or Independent Senator voting to convict him.

The press of the 1970’s was almost united in its opposition to Nixon and support for impeachment. Today’s mainstream press would almost certainly work to protect Obama.

In summary, don’t count on impeachment and conviction to remove Obama from office.

That punk is going down. Obama hates America, hates Christians and freedom. We have a chance for payback and I want to see him impeached and laid flat. I just wish this was his first term. Better late than never.

Palin has already talked about impeachment. As soon as Cruz says impeachment, It’s lights out!

Nixon resigned. He considered it the best thing to do for the country given the circumstances.

In stark contrast to Nixon, King FUBO hates this country and doesn't give a **** what happens to it.

Vulnerability to confidence tricks
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confidence_trick

Confidence tricks exploit typical human characteristics such as greed, dishonesty, vanity, opportunism, lust, compassion, credulity, irresponsibility, desperation, and naïvety. As such, there is no consistent profile of a confidence trick victim;

the common factor is simply that the victim relies on the good faith of the con artist.

Victims of investment scams tend to show an incautious level of greed and gullibility, and many con artists target the elderly, but even alert and educated people may be taken in by other forms of confidence trick.

Accomplices, also known as shills, help manipulate the mark into accepting the perpetrator’s plan. In a traditional confidence trick, the mark is led to believe that he will be able to win money or some other prize by doing some task.

The question should be: WHY is Obama still president?

She spent 2-3 minutes making excuses for 0bama and wasn’t tricked or pressed into doing it by 0’Reilly.

No conviction would turn him into a bigger hero to the left.

Conviction would turn him into a “dead” hero.

I agree! Anger took over my keyboard. When O'Reilly asked her if Bowbama had lied to her, as an American citizen, she danced all around it, but wouldn't answer that "easy" question. P*ssed me off that they all equivocate when asked a direct question. And, that IS, politics, as usual!

Thank you for that observation. I agree that Blackburn is conservative but watching her at the hearing yesterday she took Sebelius to the edge and then let her slide. She could have nailed her but didn't. I'm sick to death of these politicians treating the enemy with kid gloves. This is war......and should be treated as such. Forget the niceties and go for the jugular!

And,

I will agree that Marsha should not have stopped, but have finished Sibelius off.

Nixon resigned before the HOUSE voted to impeach him.

He may well have been convicted in the Senate.

He resigned because he felt it best for the country.

Lets all start a national POTUS lottery, we place bets on a date when Obama is stripped of AF1, the golf course and the Oval Office.

My prediction?

March 15th 2014. No reason for that date, it just popped into my head.
