According to the woman on the video he was a student. She was a student and she wasn’t a native. She moved as an infant from California to Hawaii. I got the impression her attendance began early - kindergarten or 1st grade. According to her there was curiosity among the kids at the time as to how Obama managed to gain admission being that he was of a middle year age and his having had no outstanding academic qualities.
