Birthday Of The National Guard - Always Ready, Always There
The American Flag Daily ^ | Dec 13, 2013 | FlagBearer

Posted on 12/13/2013 4:25:59 AM PST by Master Zinja

Today is recognized as the birthday of the United States National Guard. Thank you to all who serve our country and protect its citizens! According to the National Guard Bureau, the Guard is a direct descendant of the militias of the 13 colonies, tracing its history back more than 375 years.

According to the law, the NG or ARNG was formed in 1903, refined in 1916 and subsequently in 1920, 33 etc and as such the NG is not associated historically with the Militia of the Founders eras. The NG is a federal organization which can be compelled for oversea service, while per the US Constitution, militia was reserved for insurrection rebellion, invasion etc ( and therefore within the US).

While the NG (ARNG & ANG) are comprised of part time personnel, to equate a federal force with the militia of old is not historically accurate. The Act of 1792 is probably the best example of the militia, a force of citizens, generally with no formal “enlistment or commission” to serve, doing so as citizens in defense of home, community and nation under law. Todays NG is a federal force, nothing less. Nothing more.

We have no militia per se. Militias were local and state oriented, the NG is fully funded federally and thusly a federal force on quiet loan to governors until the NCA demands them.

Happy Birthday, NG!

Ditto and thanks for posting the accurate history. The twisted history purported by the NG Bureau is central to the statist view on the NG being the “militia” of the 2d Amendment thus citizens should not be armed outside the Guard.

Enjoy the party because soon, odumbo will eliminate the current National Guard and replace them with his own Brown Shirt Guard.

Importantly, psychologists know that when Americans see the flag, it increases their feelings of patriotism for up to two weeks. And feelings of patriotism directly benefit the Republican party only. Democrats get no political advantage at all from the public seeing flag displays.

This can matter a LOT especially just before election days, where it might make the difference in close races.

But it also matters the rest of the year, because it influences public opinion polls to be more supportive of the Republicans, and less supportive of Democrats.

So for this reason, take every opportunity to display the flag. It might mean a Republican majority in congress after the next mid-term elections, and even a Republican president after the next presidential election.

It matters.

If this is an example of today's Army National Guard personnel then I would be afraid that the troops would not hesitate to fire on civilians, when they even have no respect for their dead.
