and some smarter advice from Mr Coolidge for John Boehner

I have never been hurt by what I have not said

Calvin Coolidge

Basil: This is typical. Absolutely typical… of the kind of… ARSE I have to put up with from you people! You ponce in here, expecting to be handwaited on hand and foot while I’m trying to run a hotel here!

Faulty Towers Warldof Salad 1979

Yesterday I gave some advice on deciding whether or not to support the Ryan Murray budget deal. In my opinion judging the bill based on those factor and calling on your congressman and senator to vote accordingly is smart.

There are decisions concerning the bill that haven’t been so smart such as stuff like this:

House Speaker John Boehner went off on outside conservative groups Wednesday morning for pushing against the new budget deal.

“They’re using our members and they’re using the American people for their own goals,” he said. “This is ridiculous.”

Really Mr. Speaker, you’re going to use your face time to attack conservatives? Let me give you some advice before you start giving speeches about Our members.

The reason you have a majority to be speaker , are invited to Sunday shows and have your press conferences covered is because of the Tea Party that mobilized to elect that GOP majorityYou’re the freaking leader of the GOP. If you’re pissed off, vent in private, if you become the minority leader unlike Nancy Pelosi the media will have no interest in anything you have to say.

And if you can’t trust your self-control in public then take President Coolidge’s advice and just be quiet.

Pretty good rant at the link, could have been done by a lot of us, but a good read nonetheless. **snort**

I consider Coolidge to be the political patron saint of the tea party.

In defense of a “compromise” that continues growing the Federal Government at an accelerating pace, he says he came to Washington to cut government.

Do these people know how stupid they look? I guess not.

The dour leader of the Congress might want to remember that without the voters who will be influenced by those individuals and groups he petulantly "called out" yesterday, he won't have a House to lead.

His arrogant and devaluing reference to the indefinite "they" sounded more like the President's reference to those who disagree with him than with a leader who knows that he is a servant, not a master.

For the life of me, every week these folks just say or do something dumber, just when I think that's not possible.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory............

If Republicans want to survive Boehner can not continue as Speaker.

I really liked Reagan, but Coolidge was the real Constitutional president. We should elect someone like him next time around. Everyone in the GOP is tired of hearing about Reagan, apparently, so let’s go with Coolidge! Wonder how long it would take for Karl Rove to undermine him, like he did Reagan? 10 seconds?

Coolidge was Reagan’s ideal president as well. As I understand it, Reagan had the official Coolidge portrait pulled out of storage and prominently placed in the white house.

Boehner should have said, “Folks, I don’t like this bill one bit, but with a Dem controlled Senate and a President who’d rather shut America down than negotiate fairly, it’s the best we can get. Give me a GOP Senate majority and we’ll get America working again!”

Agreed and if only Coolidge had been reelected four times we’d not be having this argument. Can you imagine Coolidge getting us through the 30s?

Not possible. Coolidge was an accidental President. Can you imagine a society raised on American Idol and MTV voting for Coolidge?
