Dear Freepers, I was just thinking...
What if the GOP-e does NOT certify tea party candidates for the 2014 primaries? What if they wait until the last moment and then say that half the names don't match voter rolls or that they have something wrong with them? I pose this question because I would NOT put it past them to do something like this. They are liars and cheats, many of them, and quite as much as the democrat/Marxist party. We really must be prepared to face some of this. I'm certain that some of the "old dogs" are not going to sit by and let the "new pups" try to take them out.
A VERY relevant point to ponder. We will have to be very alert and protest as loudly as we can should this pattern begin to emerge.
I’m sure attempts will be made to block any Tea Party victories, even if that means openly sabotaging their GOP brothers. Hopefully there will be enough of ‘us’ to still gain entry. Some will need to play it low key and close to the vest, be conservative w/o presenting oneself as a reformer or show stopper. Play the smiling Trojan Horse bit, where ‘they gotta elect it in order to see what’s in it’. That worked well for Gov. Walker in Wisconsin. Get elected, then POP OPEN like one of those Transformer Toys.
What if the Republican party had the moral backbone? Sorry, hallucinating again.
How would the GOP be involved, I thought the county voter registrar office verified names or the state registrar did for state wide offices.
Unless, they pack the city, county, state offices how would they accomplish this task?
This is when getting signatures by duly qualified voters is imperative. Make sure petitions are filled out exactly how they are supposed to be, names, addresses and signature have to match voter registration.
You need a good elections lawyer, if they dispute signatures or lay out a challenge you and attorney have to be there.
In NY we have a petition system that can easily be screwed up and they know how to throw names off the ballot.
One big thing is get at least double the signatures required to qualify, more in humanly possible. Make it difficult to throw enough signatures out to void petitions.
Been here all too many times in the past 20 years.
They could have ACORN do it. : )
“I thought the county voter registrar office verified names or the state registrar did for state wide offices.”
You are correct. Before the primary: Ways to qualify for county office are in the Texas Election Code (all states have an election code) and county candidates are verified at the county level. A county candidate files for office with the chairman of that party. Qualifying for state office is also in the Texas Election Code and the secretary of state, elections division, has the final say on state candidates. The state party is also involved to make sure the candidate roster in both county and state are correct and the state candidate list is given to the state election division as state candidates have to sign up with the state party. You can see there is oversight on several levels to get primary candidates on the ballot. It would work approximately the same way in any state.
A county political party runs their primary and the state party is the overseer to keep things on track and solve problems, and the secretary of state, election division, is available to answer law questions.
The general state election is in November in our state, and the state elections division coordinates with each county’s election officer to put on that election.
People complain about elections, but there is a legal process - an election is not just thrown together.
Well . . what if . . us Tea Party Republicans just quit sending one thin dime to the elites; and in the case of an elite back stabbing of Tea Party candidates, let the TPC run on a third party ticket and us go with them? Oh, that would “kill” the Republican Party? Well, if they’re going to keep committing suicide anyway; why not just give them what they want - which is to be “free” of the Tea Party.
Nothing stings like ingratitude for the 2010 mid-terms.
I don’t think Tea Party people send the “elites” one thin dime. But there are many interests that do.
Then—we make new Party! The Liberty Party.
This is just the end of the GOP as we know it. The DNC thinks this is there chance but CWII will not be kind to both of them. As after the Revolution the Tories left for Canada and back to England.
There was a class I took when I first decided to run for office, and the speaker said to get the petitions signed if you like for information purposes, but to pay the filing fee and file that way. Then, no one can say that the names were wrong in any way, and tell you 30 minutes before (or after) the filing deadline that you are short X number of valid signatures.
What the GOPe has done lately is to recruit and finance someone to run against a valid Tea Party candidate, who claims Tea Party status and then copies the true candidate’s positions and issue statements, in order to confuse voters and split the vote so the incumbent wins. They have been very successful with this, and have both Rove’s Victory Fund and the new Chamber of Commerce PAC to use.
Sadly, it is difficult to get the kind of $’s needed for a BIG campaign from Tea Party folks, usually, and many Tea Parties can’t or won’t endorse due to tax status or by-laws issues -— and they don’t want to be the object of the next IRS witch hunt. That leaves most Tea Party candidates without confirmatory endorsements and underfunded.
Plus, if you are a Constitutional Conservative, as many Tea Party candidates are, the PAC’s won’t support either because they can’t buy votes and loopholes from you.
Which makes a Tea Party candidate’s campaign a penny-pinching, on the road, grassroots visiting, uphill climb -— exactly what we MUST do if we are ever going to take Capitol Hill and get our Country back.

Republican Primary 2014
I’m pretty sure that the local and state republican workers are controlled by the RNC, and therefore can be manipulated by them. Obama had one of his opponent’s list of names needed to be on the ballot reduced so that he didn’t qualify. I’m pretty sure that with a little money or offer of a national position if one made a few “corrections” to assure that a certain opponent was not successful that this could be done. Our RNC is not a pristine group, as we all know. Just saying that we need to make sure that there are no dirty tricks in 2014. We already know how the democrats AND republicans worked to undermine Ken Cuccinelli’s VA run for governor. I would not be surprised to see the RINOs use ANY & EVERY trick to keep in power.
I explained to all the tea party groups that keep asking for more money that this time around I am looking at the candidates myself and giving to them directly. What I hate is the one-issue candidate that gets picked up by the tea party groups, but after the win, they do vote on that one issue, but then vote with the democrats on EVERY OTHER conservative issue. I am retired and don’t have a lot to spend. I want personally vet candidates, see what else I can find out about them. We have an important race right here in GA.
The R or D would have no control over the verification of names that is handled by the registrar
Would’t be the first time the GOP elite undercut the conservative.
