North Korean Execution Method Sparks Controversy
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 3 Jan 2014 | John Semmens

Posted on 01/03/2014 10:41:27 PM PST by John Semmens

Reports that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un had his uncle Jang Song Thaek executed by feeding him to a pack of 120 ravenous dogs was met with mixed reactions in the US.

On the one hand, some environmental activists expressed relief that the traditional “bullet-to-the-back-of-the-head” method previously used by North Korea had been avoided. “Lead shot is a major factor in environmental pollution,” said Global Advocates for Environmental Awareness spokesperson, Laura Looney. “Granted, the absolute impact of one bullet is tiny. However, the turn toward a more organic method of disposal of unwanted criminals is a powerful symbolic statement that presents a model we hope others will follow.”

On the other hand, Sunny Day, vice-president of Citizens Against Cruelty to Animals found the event to be “horrifying in its brutality. These 120 dogs were starved for three days and then were given only six humans to eat in the execution. On top of that, these humans were thrown into the cage alive and were able to injure many of the dogs before they were killed. Other dogs injured each other in the feeding frenzy.”

Day said she hoped that “North Korea would more carefully plan any future executions using this method to ensure that no animals are harmed in the process. Perhaps the condemned could be tied up or otherwise immobilized and the ratio of dogs to people kept at a more reasonable level to better guard against injury.”

In related news, the White House listed the doubling of the dogs in residence as one of the Administration's accomplishments for the year 2013. During the year, Sunny, a female Portuguese Water Dog, joined Bo, a male Portuguese Water Dog, who moved into the White House in 2009. President Obama said he has no plans to include either dog in any future executions, “the drone strikes have been completely satisfactory in that regard.”

Were gay and lesbian dogs permitted to join the feast? Or were they, as usual, cruelly excluded from what must have been the canine social event of the season?

Gezz, only 6 humans to be split between 120 hungry dogs? And yes, some of those dogs might have been hurt in the frenzy.

No wonder PETA is pissed....

This story does go to show where the critter nuts really stand.

North Korean leader fed uncle to starving dogs, report says
FoxNews.com ^ | January 03, 2014 | Edmund DeMarche

The execution of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's uncle was more brutal than initially reported, according to a Beijing-controlled newspaper, which said the country's second-most-powerful figure was thrown into a cage filled with starving dogs and eaten alive.

The Singaporean Straits Times cited a report from Wen Wei Po, a Beijing-control newspaper, that said Jang Song Thaek and five close associates were stripped and fed to 120 dogs that had not eaten for three days. The entire process, witnessed by 300 senior officials, lasted for about an hour, the report said. Fox News could not immediately verify the report. ..." (more at link above)

Well, yeah. John took what MIGHT be a true story, and added the satirical commentary.

Personally I think it's quite possible that it's true, given the unspeakable horrors committed by the North Koreans every day on their own people.

My only question is where they found 120 dogs that hadn't already been eaten by the citizenry.

I understand. I just wanted to clarify for those who thought the entire thing was satire. And there always are some.

The Left notoriously mixes lies or distortions with the truth in order to minimize the effects of actual stories or reports they deem damaging to their own (not necessarily the case here with this nut job in NK). Then when their version gets exposed as not being accurate, a good number of people will think the whole thing is bogus, especially those who don’t follow these things as closely as we do. They’ve done this many times in the past, often pretending to be a right-wing source.

And I know John, without a doubt, is one of our own. Just saying :)

I cannot believe someone said that. Either it is a satire or we have an environweenie in full throttle hallucinations as she is suffering from a full mental breakdown. Shoot her in the head and put her out of her misery.

The name Laura Looney, though, makes me suspect this is from a satire article.

I guess the NK regime protects the dogs. I read elsewhere that they use dogs like these on prisoners there.

The "Semi-News/Semi-Satire" FR posts by John Semmens are just that. The trick is in separating the news from the satire.

IMO, it can cloud the facts of genuine stories so much that many won’t know what to believe and just dismiss the entire thing. I mean, it’s often difficult getting the details straight on real stories. And not a lot of us have the time to spend hunting down the facts.

I’m surprised there’s 120 living dogs in North Korea.

You have a point, but Freepers should check the source of every FR thread to assess its accuracy. With all the Semmens threads, you have to click a link labeled "Semi News-Semi Satire" to get to the linked article. Isn't that sufficient warning?

John has been posting his satire here for a long time. He has many fans. I think of him as a feature of FR.
