I will never understand the Great Respect paid to leftist “official” media here, while blogs are second class. Who cares if someone clicks onto a blog? Blog posts I read here come in at roughly 50% good or interesting. MSM doesn’t have nearly those great odds.

I’m not sure what the underlying criteria is.
The respect is simply shilling for things some people have a nostalgic attachment to.
Even though the old newspapers have largely become semi literate cummunist propaganda rags, people with a lifetime of fond memories are loathe to let go. No matter how much hypocrisy, nastiness, and unprovoked personal attacks they need engage in to try to prop them up.
And oh how they explode in self righteous indignation if you stick up for the target of their zealous rants.
