I would not call them "deadbeats". The job situation is difficult.

If someone is unemployed, then their job is to look for a job, full-time, every day, day and night, until they are again gainfully employed, and paying their own living expenses.

Otherwise, they are deadbeats; worse than useless; parasitic, subhuman, total wastes of human potential.

I know far too many who are getting benefits who have absolutely no intention of ever again working, or becoming employable, or developing any marketable skills. The first six months of unemployment provide time to apply for extended unemployment benefits. The extended benefits provide time to apply for SSI disability. Then the disability income provides time to apply for permanent disability, then for every type of government check and benefit under the sun.

On top of that, some of these cretins go back to work for cash under the table, un-taxed, and living like royalty at the expense of their human benefactors. On this, I wouldn't fault them, if, and only if, they would give up the government income.

I'd vote for grinding such fraudulent scumbags up for dog food and fertilizer, along with all the governemt slugs who processed and approved the paperwork.

I got a kick out of the dumbs***t Kenyan yesterday when she said NOBODY has ever come up to him and told him that they would rather receive an unemployment check than have a job. The boy sure isn’t very bright, is he?

Even with federal “emergency” extensions some states limit the time. In TN it’s 73 weeks total. Period.

Still a lot but it is what it is.

My job was eliminated 3 years ago. I got paid all earned and accrued vacation/sick time and one year severence (along with health insurance).

They also signed on to the unemployment. I got a total of 73 weeks ($275 a week maximum in TN) which is the max in TN.

I still haven’t found “work”. I’m close to 60 and did corporate accounting. They can hire kids out of college as clerks for 1/3 or less what I was making to do the simple work.

My wife has an executive job so it’s not about the money. While I don’t “work” I do all the household stuff we used to hire out (maids) and don’t eat out much because I shop and cook.

So I’m not quite a deadbeat! lol

We all know people who turned down work because the benefits were extended. And duh many of them ARE working under the table while collecting...

If you know people who are doing that, you should report them. They are criminals as well as parasites.

Sorry, but I’d put you in the category of one of those who are the problem. For well over a year you collected unemployment checks because you’d just rather not take a job that doesn’t match up with what you deemed appropriate.

Bring back American jobs.

So you’re perfectly okay with engaging in long-term insurance fraud.

I was let go, unemployment compensation was paid by my company and I took it. It was extended by idiots in federal government and it was legally paid to me for 73 weeks.

Fraud? Not quite.

Yes, fraud. Insurance fraud. You took money as part of an insurance scheme that was intended for someone who really needed it. Not to worry, the system and culture encourages you and approves.

Fraud is a deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain (adjectival form fraudulent; to defraud is the verb).[1] As a legal construct, fraud is both a civil wrong (i.e., a fraud victim may sue the fraud perpetrator to avoid the fraud and/or recover monetary compensation) and a criminal wrong (i.e., a fraud perpetrator may be prosecuted and imprisoned by governmental authorities).

I did not do this. I took my legal limit. Don’t like it? Vote out those that pass these laws.

The definition is met in the unfair aspect. The funds were intended for someone who really needed them. What you did is exactly what millions of people have been and are doing, constantly, for generations now in this runaway welfare state which has given us trillions in debt and unfunded liabilities. “Entitlements” that they legally are allowed to collect, but which should instead be left where they belong—as other people’s property.
