Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is hosting a $1,000 fundraiser in Washington, D.C., next month, providing a hint that he will run for reelection in 2016.
McCains office confirmed the fundraiser to The Hill while reiterating that the Arizona senator has not made a final decision about running again. His office said he will be prepared regardless.
Buzzfeed first reported the fundraiser, which will be held Jan. 28 for his first DC re-elect reception.
McCain has said he is strongly considering a run for reelection in 2016, after he joked last year this term could be his last in the Senate.
The former GOP presidential nominee also hosted a fundraiser in New York last month. In that invitation he asked donors to join him while I consider running for reelection to the U.S. Senate.
The 27-year veteran of the Senate won his last election in 2010 with 60 percent of the vote, and had a little more than $1.1 million in cash on hand in the third quarter last year.
During a New York Times profile published in December, McCain expressed concern about how retiring might affect his health. He is 77 years old.
My grandfather actually flew home from the peace-signing on the Missouri and died, McCain said. I have seen people age dramatically when they go into retirement.
If retirement would hurt his health, can’t somebody make him an ambassador to Somolia or something?
If he’s 77 now, then he will be 80 in 2016. I hear Steven Segal is interested in Arizona Politics.
I can’t imagine even the insane voters of AZ electing this demented troll again.
I agree...McCain needs to just go.
Who’s more insane, Señor Juan or the AZ GOPe voters who will nominate him yet again?
Nonetheless, the word "insane" means deranged, and deranged means ...
Think about it.
His Naval career has never been questioned here by me.
Yet, his post prisoner life is clearly that of an insane madman. Two separately distinct period in his life. You can equivocate meanings about what insane means, but that does not mean anything with respect to his last couple of decades disservice to this country. He’s crazy, period.
Go look at his recent Mideast trip and see who he hooked up with. He’s a nutball.
Yeah, well Benedict Arnold was a patriot too, before he wasn't.
McCain’s hatred of America won’t let him retire. He wants to help Obama and then Hillary usher in 100 percent destruction.
Good luck with that. From Yesterday:
Maceman ... Recommended reading ... Kenneth Robert's historical novels Arundel and Rabble in Arms ... along with Benedict Arnold, Patriot and Traitor by Willard Sterne Ranndall.
I bought the latter book at West Point, and enjoyed seeing a tribute to Arnold in the WP Museum that credits Arnold with winning the final battle at Saratoga, where General Gates kept himself two miles away from the battle on a hilltop ... where Arnold violated orders, jumped his horse over the compound wall and rode to lead the winnning charge into the British command post. Arnold was badly injured in that episode, but refused to have his leg removed, making him a permanent cripple who was later financially screwed by Congress over his expenses in an earlier battle on Lake Champlain (at Valcour Island, where Arnold's boat sank and his records were lost) where the British invasion Fleet was turned around ... delaying the British invasion for a year.
Retire to Mexico, the country of your loyalties, McCain.
GTFO of the USA you hate and seek to end.
He’ll have to run on the Democrat ticket if he expects to get more than one electoral vote!
He's not just a RINO. He's a catroon version of a RINO.
He's so quintessentially RINO-esque that I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a black & white 1930’s short with Betty Boop.
...You know, the ones that have animated musical instruments that go into the bedroom to kill the children.
