I'm thinking of switching careers where I can effectively work behind the conservative scene, such as a think tank.
How old are you? If you are young enough, you could maybe get a job as a staffer and get some experience and meet people. If you are thinking of actually doing research and writing reports and such, you’ll need to be an authority in the subject.
Thanks.
Whenever I think I’m running out of time to be a (big)success, I think of this, Colonel Saunders was in his mid sixties when he found trustworthy investors and his chicken recipe finally began to take off!
“I think I would like to go into the black market ammo reloading business.
Thats what I think, but I dont have the equipment or the materials.”
MidwayUSA, or any of dozens of suppliers, can provide entry level equipment. An internet search will provide suppliers of larger scale equipment.
I’d advise against “black market” sales plans because:
1. Blacks are only 12/14% of the population.
2. Blacks have lower incomes and less disposable income.
;-)
Join the Democratic Party, dye yourself dark brown(not too dark, however), and get a “Minority Enterprise” grant for supplying Gubment.
:-(
Well, those people you worked for are where I would go first....those are your connections at this point. They may very well be able to direct you where you would go....and even in asking them, or telling them you’re looking for a chnage into politics, they may very well snatch you up!
I’ve been encouraging my daughter to do this. She’s a great writer and should be writing about ideas and research instead of describing products on a website. It shouldn’t be that hard to find a couple of foundations or institutions, we have a couple in Milwaukee for heavens sake.
Its not politics, its building knowledge to win the war of ideas with the liberals.
Look on Linkedin, use bing. Its just a job hunt, you have a specific target.

Thanks!

Career Paths and Entry Salaries
The type of positions available varies considerably between organizations and is very much dependent upon one’s level of education. In addition to research-related positions, which usually require an MA or PhD and specialized expertise, many organizations utilize interns and individuals with BA and MA degrees for a range of administrative positions. Entry-level positions for individuals with MA degrees include:
Program Manager/Assistant: Coordinates and handles logistics for major program events, meetings, conferences, and international visits, and manages a range of program support functions, including communications and publication work. Starting salaries can range from high 20s to mid 30s depending on the organization and level of responsibility.
Research Assistant: Provides research support to Fellows and Senior Associates, drafts documents, manages database records, handles correspondence and provides general administrative support. Salaries average in the high 20s to mid 30s, depending on the size and funding base of the institute.
Research Associate: Develops and implements research plans, prepares funding proposals, analyzes data and synthesizes findings, publishes and presents findings to various audiences. Starting salaries can range from mid 30s to 40s, again depending on experience and the organization.
Advancement into senior positions usually requires education at the Ph.D. level and/or extensive specialized expertise, so it is common to see those in junior level positions leaving after 2-3 years to pursue higher education and professional opportunities in academia, government, private corporations, and consulting firms.
” If you’re thinking of a Career in politics, please stop thinking now. “
WRONG!!
If you’re thinking of a Career in politics, you have stopped thinking.

Maybe confuse them a bit with the occasional musing on their own hypocrisy

Every Republican consultant or lobbyist will hire you in a heartbeat.
You should check these out and send them your resume if you think you really want to change careers. If you’ve written policy review papers or other research reports, I would send pdf copies along.

As the only conservative left in New York, you could be the President of the Lonely Conservative’s Club...Start with oppo research on a small precinct and work up. Someone will buy it.
How about some good old fashion counter intelligence project.
A website and database that rate and link all the op-ed, commentary, news stories and bylines submitted by media personalities and start mapping their submissions into a big diagram of interconnects between media personal and political operatives and organizations and even individuals.
All the people that provide commentary and opinion of importance (like national level pundits) get profiled and categorized to the point where we can look at a New Story, say about Hillary, see who the author is, then we can look at the authors profile we built and see a visual diagram of who, what and where they’ve been writing about.
A nexus of actionable political profiles of news and media personal that rates their loyalties to the right, left or center and identifies empirically who they’re either knowingly or unknowingly supporting and based on their submissions how strong of support they give.
After a few years we would have the media all politically mapped out and have identified the party smoke blowers in the MSM.
Connie Hair from here on FR also comes to mind. She has a very wide base of experience from political consulting, running grass roots campaigns, writing, etc.. I'd worked with her briefly on one campaign and thought she was very sharp. She might also be someone you would want to reach out to. I think she's consulting with the NRA now IIRC. A quick Google search should tell you where she is now.
It is rather tough to make a living in political consulting -- feast or famine was my experience. Best of luck to you!
The founders, all men of so much great insight and foresight, did all the needed thinking for us. What we need is folks who will tend to the functional application of Natural Liberty and self-government.
I mean, with all the “thinking” being done over the last 200 years or so, and just look at the mess we are in now?
Forget the thinking part, roll up the sleeves and get busy, all of us!
