There are lots of ways to argue against the "government knows what's better for you than you do" meme...but this sums it up pretty beautifully...

TOPICS: Politics
KEYWORDS: government; liberal

Yes. They really think that way and it makes perfect sense to them. They know better than we do.

All that’s missing is Freeman saying “Good luck.”

:-)

Yes, that’s absolutely it.

I’ve been trying to explain this worldview to a libinlaw, with little success.
Mostly because there’s a lot of self-righteousness at stake,
giving up on the idea that people are “basically good, but act badly because of their environment”.

“Some” know better than others...

invariably, EVERY liberal thinks he’s in the first group.

"Progressives" believe exactly that. By definition, they are smarter and more compassionate than everyone else. After all, if you were as smart and compassionate as them, you would be a progressive too. It's their responsibility to make you live like you should, and government is the tool to do it with. They are the shepherds, we are the sheeple.

Batman. The guy is an accounting weenie trying to blackmail Billionaire Bruce Wayne, who he also believes is Batman...a violent vigilante.

The Dark Knight.

It’s the scene where a young attorney for Wayne Corp. figures out Bruce is Batman, he tries to blackmail the company and Fox (played by Freeman) reminds him that he (this puny sniveling lawyer) might not want to blackmail someone who beats thugs and killers for sport, all without confirming or denying if he was right in the first place.
