I have to shake my head in wonder when I hear this kind of proclamation...especially when it comes from Obama:

Climate change is a fact? No shit Sherlock.

No one disputes that. No one. In fact that is what those of who do not believe in man-made global warming argue, the planet's climate has been changing for tens of thousands of years, long before we were here.

Anthony Watts has a great graph up depicting this very thing:

Now if someone wants to say "man-made climate change is a fact" then they will be called to the carpet because it is nothing of the sort.

Another doozy in that inane muttering of Obama?

They’d look pretty stupid to us in the context of science knowledge today, wouldn’t they?

The debate is NEVER settled in science. Good science is all about hypothesizing, discovery, testing, and repeatability. It's all about debating on new and old ideas with an understanding that there is no certainty in science because we are always learning more, discovering new things, and changing the theories to reflect the new evidence.

Now that Obama’s popularity is free falling, and it looks like Democrats might lose their grip on tyranny this next election, there is a desperation to shove every possible leftist insanity down America’s throat, global warming, gun control, amnesty, gay rights.... It seems like the Obamacare debacle, all of the dismay, suffering and disruption it has caused, would make these leftist imbeciles back off. Maybe they would want to take stock in the damage they have caused, and have a little compassion, but no, not them.

There is something refreshing about the willingness to acknowledge finite limits to their own understanding exhibited by these two examples from former Presidents, especially from Jefferson who, at Age 33, authored perhaps the most revolutionary document in the history of nations, a document of which Lincoln said:

...the planet's climate has been changing for tens of thousands of years...interesting PBS program this week on the "bog bodies" which are discovered every now and then in Ireland and Scotland - turns out that something about the acidity of the water in some of these bogs drive out oxygen which in turn slows decay in the bodies which fall or are thrown into them, as well as in the various plant forms which are found in them - and this presents a fairly reliable way of tracking the climate for thousands of years covered by the bogs' existence - in fact in those areas, the climate turned sharply colder at about the time of the beginning of the Iron Age, roughly the birth of Christ, "almost as cold as during the Ice age" - all of which comes down to the fact that any warming we may be experiencing is perhaps nothing than a regression to the mean temperatures the world was experiencing before the frigid downturn....
