Jerk of the Week - Emmit Evans

There's plenty of competition this week for our Jerk of the Week honors. From Obama lying repeatedly during his State of the Union address to reporters spreading such lies to establishment Republicans willing to grant amnesty to illegal aliens, there's a lot of candidates. However, it's time to once again look at how those in the ivory tower of academia are pushing their twisted worldview onto the impressionable minds of young students. That's why our Jerk of the Week is Emmit Evans.

Emmit Evans is a political science professor at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, which is a public university. These means that taxpayer dollars are paying this insane progressive liberal to spew his venom. What exactly is the good professor spewing, you ask? Well, it seems that Evans is teaching that Usama bin Laden was a freedom fighter against the United State's role of being a "neocolonial power." These viewpoints are expressed in a book that Emmit Evans co-authored, which is required reading in his education camp...I mean class. The book, The Other World, is used in Evan's "World Food Systems" class. The book states, "Much of the political instability endemic to Other World political systems stems from the fact that governments operated openly for private gain (or kleptocracies) have little legitimacy among, or acceptance by, a significant proportion of the population, in neo colonial times as in the past. The Al Qaeda movement of Osama bin Laden is one example of an attempt to free a country (in this case, Saudi Arabia) from a corrupt and repressive regime propped up by a neocolonial power (in this case, the United States)."

When approached about his bias, Evans replied that his writings "are empirical, not normative." As for the class, he says that the focus is on sustainability, and that they do not focus on "'the other side' - how we might build more unsustainable food systems." Yet a student in his class, Aaron Bandler, says that the entire course was biased. He states that Evan encouraged students to be in activists in the model of Occupy Wall Street or the Arab Spring, and that any opposing viewpoints were never discussed. Bandler said that his grade wasn't affected by his conservative beliefs and that he found Evans to be a likable.

To progressive liberals like Emmit Evans, wars are caused by evil capitalists and corporations, such as Big Oil. A new world order based on equality and fairness must be implemented (guess who decides how the system is implemented?). Naturally, our old friend, climate change, was sprinkled throughout Evan's class, with no regard for any evidence against the claims that its man-made. He even showed clips from An Inconvenient Truth without telling the class that there were scenes that have been proven in court to be factually wrong. This is the modus operandi of the progressive left in our school system. Push an agenda to a captive audience that most likely do not have all the contextual information in order to refute, or even critically think, of what the teacher is saying. Evans even had a person come in and lecture the class about the joys of ObamaCare despite it having nothing to do with the class' goal.

The thing I find most offensive is that of Al Qaeda being labeled as freedom fighters. In the twisted minds of progressive liberals, having people burning to death or forced to jump from crumbling skyscrapers are the hallmarks of freedom fighters. These liberals live in an abstract world that never touches on reality. Wonder how quickly his definition of freedom fighter would change if an Islamic terrorist was getting ready to saw his head off. Would he scoff at the US Marines bursting through the door to save him? Would he consider their actions "neocolonial"? For is incredible bias and sympathetic attitude towards murdering terrorists, Emmit Evans is our Jerk of the Week.

Cal Poly SLO does have its fruits and nuts. The college and town are an odd mix of conservative ag and engineering, with some “progressives” coming down from San Francisco and up from LA. I had a history professor there “back in the day” who would pass out anti-Christian papers with such topics as “what did Noah do with all the manure”.

Cal Poly, with its fruits and nuts, was a GRANOLA BAR. We used to joke about colleges as homes to SO MANY granola bars.

The good thing, though, is that MOST grads go out into the world, SEE what it's really like, and grow up.

If not, they BECOME a granola bar.
