Meet Johnny Boehner's 2014 Primary Challenger- Ohio Entrepreneur ERIC GURR
Reaganite Republican ^ | 04 February 2014 | Reaganite Republican

Lifelong Ohioan Eric Gurr -a 48-y.o. student of history who's campaigning as a 'Conservative Republican'- was born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio. He attended the University of Cincinnati, has been registered as Republican his entire adult life, and is currently the CEO of Best and Brightest inc. a computer consulting firm based in West Chester, Ohio.

He's married and has three children and two grandchildren, who all reside in Liberty Township. Ohio. Amusingly, Eric is a second cousin to
George Washington. (9x removed)...

And check him out on the issues: he's pro-life, anti-Obamacare, and against unhelpful foreign entanglements like Libya and Syria. And he's definitely no fan of Barack Obama.

As he told the Examiner

"What prompted me to run was the realization that since 2008 Mr. Boehner had slowly pulled away from my views and what I thought was in the best interest of the nation long-term.

I was not in favor of the TARP programs and I still think our monetary policy is on the wrong track.

Syria was the tipping point. I thought that war with Syria was a terrible idea. Essentially it is a very high-risk proposition with little or nothing to be gained.

I also believe strongly that the immigration bill was a bad bill at the wrong time. It makes no sense at all to add to a workforce burdened by high unemployment and underemployment.

When I started putting all of these things together I realized that Speaker Boehner has just been in Washington too long. Publicly elected servants should serve a few terms and then leave lest they become forever detached from their constituents. Over time this leads to a moderation not only in positions and policy, but in passion for the fight. Inside that beltway, conservative values (both economically and socially) are seen as "extreme."

We as the base of the GOP have no desire nor need to apologize for these conservative principles as they have served the nation quite well for over 200 years."

Sounds good to me, and I although I don't live anywhere near Cincinnati, I will probably be kicking the guy a few bucks.
Mr Gurr has also written a few columns  for RedState... you can check those out -here-

Two others have also filed to run in the Republican primary against John Boehner, but have yet to file the petitions that will put them on the ballot.

Dump Boehner!

I plan to send a donation across country to each candidate running hard against a democrat enabler.

I also dream of an effort in congress to keep an establishment republican out of the speaker's chair.

Good luck to Mr Gurr. A primaried Boehner would effectively kill the Liberal PhonyCon wing of the GOP

Gonna bust up the piggy bank for this race

I wish you the best of luck in this race.
I simply must ask you though, at one time you stated you were more of a ‘moderate GOP’ guy, has that changed?

Thanks in advance.

The dems keep saying there are really only about 11 million people inside our borders illegally that are working and sharing the load.

I'll bet they'd go twisty in a hurry if someone suggested allowing 11 million green card applications and then cutting it off completely.

I will be supporting you because I live in Washington state where every public office in my district from hospital commissioner to US Senate is held by liberal democrats. I am like many others who hope to install members in congress who will work for America and give us some hope that beyond our local issues there is someone watching out for our future and giving us a chance to turn things around.

Imagine [for starters] how our lives might change if all bills brought to the floor had to include the names of the actual authors in addition to sponsors.

Well, it is winter in Ohio. Not much chance to get a tan. I guess I do look a bit pale.

You might want to proof read your web page again - particularly the issues area.

I wish you well and I hope you unseat Boehner.

Sadly, people in Cincinnati won’t give him a chance.

All four of these aren’t just quislings, they are open enemies of the Constitution.

This winter especially (global warming appears to be bringing us another snowstorm tonight). Glad to see a viable alternative to Boehner - the last person I saw suggesting he would take Boehner on had very little life experience - it appears you have done very well and can speak to the issues with credibility.
I currently live in Liberty Township so will look forward to learning more about your campaign and progress - very tough taking on not only a sitting congressman but the Speaker of the House. I was the first intern for a Congressman who eventually became the chairman of the House Ways and Means committee, and while my career took a different path I have continued to follow politics and have been very disappointed with some of the more recent actions by our Congressman.
Best wishes on your campaign.

"Not much chance to get a tan.

that's the way to fight GOP/e..ridicule/humor works..
interweave facts w/humor..
but, you knew that.
back in '84, McConnell (pol ads) had a bunch of bloodhounds
looking for Dee Huddleston. in a forest..it was a great pol.
ad ever (considered one of the best)

It sounds as if you are in Ohio. Does Ohio have run-off elections if no one receives 50%? If not, it sure won’t help if multiple challengers run against Boner.

I am in Ohio, in Boehner’s district. I have never heard of a run-off election, so if there are more than two actually on the ballot and one fails to gain a majority, the one with a plurality will “win” and be the candidate in the general election.
When it comes time for the election, any opposition candidates best decide which among them has the best chance and the others drop out. I personally don’t see any of the others who have announced having a chance against Boehner, and its definitely a long shot. What will be interesting is if Democrats cross over as their candidate has no chance in this district - they could come over if there was a viable candidate just to knock Boehner out at the primary level - not recognizing that they may just get what they “asked for” - a real conservative.

How susceptible is your district to a D win if the Dems use their patented “Tea Party war on women, fund a libertarian to bleed R votes” in the November election?

While never say never, I don’t think there is anywhere enough support for a Democrat to ever win here. Their highest result since 2000, 36% in 2006, is not likely to happen again. After only getting 30% in 2008, the D’s didn’t even run someone in 2012.

Runoffs are only in TX, OK, AR, LA, MS, AL, GA, and SC, and possibly NC if no one gets over 40 percent in the first round.
