There will be no goods at all on shelves of any stores in Venezuela if the president follows through with his latest warning.

Via translation from El Economista, please consider Maduro Threatens to Expropriate Businesses for Violation of Fair Prices Act:

The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, has threatened to expropriate businesses that do not comply with the new Fair Prices Act. "I have called for self-regulation of products and prices. I'll Give businesses until Monday to comply. Come Monday, if I find companies violating the Law of Fair Prices I'll take more radical measures," Maduro warned.

"Do not underestimate sectors of the bourgeoisie on whether to expropriate. You will discover on Monday we are going to apply more drastic measures," added the Venezuelan president, who was quoted by the newspaper La Truth.

Maduro also reported Tuesday the arrest of a businessman on the border with Colombia. Maduro assured the businessman will face the maximum sentence of 14 years in prison for trafficking in consumer products.

Well that was the intention from the beginning - to confiscate legitimate businesses. End goal of communism: all the means of production in the hands of the collectivity.

Take all your merchandise out back, set it on fire.

Return to the store, set that on fire too.

Leave the country.

Let the little commie thieves starve in the dark.

Crazy me. I thought a “fair price” was determined by the buyer, the seller, supply and demand. Venezuela is blessed with wise politicians who know better.

End goal of communism: all the means of production in the hands of the collectivity.

The means of production are of no use in the hands of people who have no idea how to produce anything except stolen elections.

I am old enough to remember a Republican President who did something not too different from this.

I do too. I was a wee lad at the time, but in retrospect I wonder how Congress could let that happen.

The point is, both the Ds and the Rs are statists, just to slightly differing degrees.

if I find companies violating the Law of Fair Prices I'll take more radical measures,

Price controls lead to

1) increased demand
2) reduction of supply
3) 1) and 2) lead to shortages.
4) shortages lead to administrative chaos and chaos in distribution of consumer's goods and factors of production and wages
5) shortages reduce the quality of products and services
6) shortages lead to increased hoarding
7) shortages lead to rationing

This has been known since the time of Adam Smith, but is either unknown or simply evaded by those with a destructionist mentality who want to punish businessmen, capitalists and the rich because they have "too much." This includes not only Venezuelan commies, but also the great majority of today's presumably educated political and intellectual libtard leaders

I’m in agreement with the “burn it down” strategy.

Unless you have stockholders who you are beholden to, destroy your stock, leave the country and take the loss.

Well, on the plus side Comrade Maduro is still making good money from selling their heavy oil to US Gulf Coast refineries since the Canadian heavy oil is still blocked.

Viva Hussein!!

Those principles that lead to destruction aren’t unknown to them, they simply don’t care about the suffering of anyone besides themselves. In fact, they take evil delight in hurting others. It feels good hurting others. “See that manure pile, Comrade? Go stick your nose into it, or we’ll do it for you. And you will like it.”
