Obama bullies small employers with bogus perjury charges, threats of prison
Coach is Right ^ | 2/16/14 | Doug Book

The most thoroughly corrupt Regime in the nation’s history has told the Treasury Department–read, I.R.S–that beginning immediately, the nation’s small business owners must “…”certify” that they are not shedding full-time workers simply to avoid the [ObamaCare employer] mandate. Officials said employers will be told to sign a “self-attestation” on their tax forms affirming this, under penalty of perjury.”

Could there be any example of outright thuggery which is more quintessentially “Barack?” Imagine employers being required to swear, “under penalty of perjury,” hand over heart and head bowed in supplication to The One that they, as business owners, “have not taken an action that they have every legal right to take.”

And could there be a less subtle way to inform the nations employers that...

"Anyone may so arrange his affairs that his taxes shall be as low as possible"

So right, So corrrect and insightful. And the subbsequent IRS audit will not be connected with it in any way. This spake the boy king.

“Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as
possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the
treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one’s taxes.
Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister
in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone
does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any
public duty to pay more than the law demands.”

Judge Learned Hand..... United States judge and judicial philosopher. He served on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and later the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

I haven’t seen any business owners speaking up on this. I’m guessing they are afraid of losing their business.

There is no law against a thing and suddenly it is illegal.

More:

U.S. Appeals Court Judge Learned Hand famously wrote in Helvering v. Gregory, 69 F.2d 809 (1934) that,

Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one’s taxes.

Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands:

Taxes are enforced exactions, not voluntary contributions.

To demand more in the name of morals is mere cant.

Justice Hand uses the word "cant" here. It's a hard to find the definition of this seldom-used word. Here it is:

cant noun

  1. insincere, especially conventional expressions of enthusiasm for high ideals, goodness, or piety.
  2. the private language of the underworld.
  3. the phraseology peculiar to a particular class, party, profession, etc.: the cant of the fashion industry.
  4. whining or singsong speech, especially of beggars.

verb (used without object)

  1. to talk hypocritically.
  2. to speak in the whining or singsong tone of a beggar; beg.

Yes, that is undoubtedly the purpose for this perjury thing. To keep business owners from saying WHY they are laying people off.

Beyond despicable.

Not that this has anything to do with this thread, but, just what is a fatwa anyway?

Islamics "putting out a hit" on someone or some organization.

Ah. Not that that's what's going on here.

Maybe a comparison with the Communist regimes of Eastern Europe would be more accurate...and more in keeping with the ideological roots of the Democratic Party. They don’t have concentration camps and aren’t shooting people to get the others to comply, but they are trying to achieve total control by intimidating people through audits, fines, and excessive bail, with the threat of imprisonment (see Dinesh D’Souza and the filmmaker whose stupid video did not cause the attack in Benghazi).
