Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced Sunday that his government has expelled three US consulate officials accused of meeting with students involved in anti-government protests that have raged throughout Venezuela for nearly two weeks.
In an address on Venezuela state television, Maduro accused the consulate workers and the United States government of conspiring with opposition forces to incite turmoil across the country.
We are determined to defend our country, said Maduro.
US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed concern over Venezuelas handling of the protests, resulting in at least three deaths, more than 40 injuries and numerous arrests and detentions.
We are particularly alarmed by reports that the Venezuelan government has arrested or detained scores of anti-government protesters and issued an arrest warrant for opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, said Kerry.
These actions have a chilling effect on citizens rights to express their grievances peacefully, he added.
Anti-government protesters, chiefly comprised of student activists and led by Venezuelan opposition party Voluntad Popular leader Leopoldo López, have engaged in violent clashes with Venezuelan authorities despite a presidential ban on protests.
The decree banning further protests was issued after an estimated 50,000 Venezuelan activists marched through the Venezuelan capital of Caracas on Feb. 12, resulting in an eruption of deadly violence between protesters and government supporters.

And John Fn Kerry has spoken meaningless words.
I feel so very sorry for the Venezuelan people.
But I also feel angry at Obozo. His presence makes the Global Leftist feel no restraint.
I am surprised that our communist leaders here in America are not planning to send troops to help put down this rebellion.
In my opinion this situation is far more directly important to us than the Ukraine mess but our president is on the side of the dictatorial socialist regime.
And the MSM will NOT Cover.
But what will this mean to Kerry’s drive to end anthropomorphic global warming??
Kerry will spew more Hot Air.
hee hee hee
I don’t get it, isn’t the obummer administration on their side?
Arguably, from an American perspective, there are no good guys in Venezuela. They willingly went “Full Socialist”.
Now they are hurting.
Stupid should hurt.
They are probably supporting them financially already.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Yes, of course they are on the Leftist’s side.
Professional courtesy of Obozo, one commie to another.
Cuba has already sent their troops to help the government forces. hussein is probably sending under the table support but he knows he’d lose some of the hispanic vote if he publically sided with Maduro.
Venezuelan beauty queen Genesis Carmona, 22, fatally shot in head during protest
Genesis Carmona, who served as her states 2013 Miss Turismo, was shot in the head in the city of Valencia Tuesday. The 22-year-old died Wednesday afternoon, marking the fifth fatality during the countrys ongoing political turmoil.
