Stop Saying “That’s So Gay!”: 6 Types of Microaggressions That Harm LGBTQ People

(big time BARF ALERT!)
When I was a little kid, I used to hear my brothers, cousins, and friends say things like “That’s so gay!” on a pretty regular basis. I would usually laugh along, hoping with all my might that they didn’t know my secret. My parents and other adults in my life would tell me things like “Boys don’t cry” or “Be a man!” which essentially was their way of telling me that being emotional was forbidden or a sign of weakness.

When I was a teenager, there were a few boys at my high school who ridiculed me, almost everyday. When I walked by them in the halls, they called me a “faggot” or screamed my name in a flamboyant tone. I learned to walk by without showing any reaction; I could not let them know that it bothered me, or else I would be proving to them that I was indeed gay. I didn’t tell anyone about the bullying (not my parents, teachers, or anyone) because admitting that I was being teased for being gay would mean that I was admitting to being gay. I had never felt so alone in my life.

In college, it got a little better. While I was no longer harassed about my closeted sexual orientation, I didn’t have any friends that were openly gay and most of my friends didn’t have any either. Some of my friends and family members still made occasional homophobic jokes in front of me. While many loved ones later told me that they suspected that I was gay, no one gave me any reason to believe that they were gay-friendly.

"One of the reasons why it was important for me to study microaggressions against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) people "

It's actually LGBTPQ for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, PEDOPHILE, queer and questioning.

And remember when gay meant happy, fruit was something you ate, queer was something odd not a lifestyle, fairies were small magical creatures, dykes was slang used to refer to diagonal cutters, the list goes on and on.

The radical homosexual movement deliberately initiated the word "gay" instead of homosexual as to make their sexual proclivities more palatable to the general population. "We don't have unnatural, dangerous, anal sex" they say...."we're gay....it's a lot of fun." Non-homosexual libs obediently fall in line and do not use the word homosexual to describe homosexuals.

I refuse to use the word "gay" to describe them. I won't call them queers...I'll call them what they are...homosexuals. I don't call myself straight..I'm heterosexual. If they don't like to be called what they are, tough.

“Would it be ok be okay if I used a stick from my burning faggot to light a fag while think about it?”

Only if you pack fudge.

Porque? What does fudge have to do with lighting a cigarette with a burning stick from a bundle of burning sticks? You see this is the problem with the homosexuals co-opting the English language.

Control the dictionary and you control the world.

But you can't control the dictionary, and that's the whole point.

The dictionary doesn't prescribe. Rather, it describes how humans actually use the language.

It's instructive to look the word "gay" up in the Dictionary:

gay
adjective, gay·er, gay·est.
  1. of, pertaining to, or exhibiting sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one's own sex; homosexual: a gay couple.
  2. of, indicating, or supporting homosexual interests or issues: a gay organization.
  3. having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music. Synonyms: cheerful, gleeful, happy, glad, cheery, lighthearted, joyous, joyful, jovial; sunny, lively, vivacious, sparkling; chipper, playful, jaunty, sprightly, blithe. Antonyms: serious, grave, solemn, joyless; staid, sedate; unhappy, morose, grim; sad, depressed, melancholy.
  4. bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments. Synonyms: colorful, brilliant, vivid, intense, lustrous; glittering, theatrical, flamboyant. Antonyms: dull, drab, somber, lackluster; conservative.
  5. Slang: Often Disparaging and Offensive. awkward, stupid, or bad; lame: This game is really gay.

I would have expected sense 3 to be first. However, times have changed.

But what's really interesting is sense 5. I would add perverse and unfair to the list. The first time I remember hearing sense 5 was when my high-school age nephew exclaimed, "That is so gay!" referring to a school policy with which he disagreed.

Starting in the 50's and 60's, the queers appropriated the word gay to refer to themselves. It was to be an upgrade from queer. But the worm is turning, and the word gay is coming around to mean more or less what the word queer has always meant. How much longer will the Slang designation persist?

The actually said, “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning”. It seems it should be LGBTQQ or LGBTQ2.

Is that pronounced Lugbut Q2?

I recently found out the word “faggot” is considered a slur. Same thing with “oriental”.

And is there a difference between queer, gay, and homosexual?

And I get totally lost on the 50 shades of gender.

I seem to recall the word “fag” was slang for cigarette in some
parts of the US (Pacific NW?) and also Britain.
