The Crimea is what Putin would want.

The map seems to suggest a two-state solution, although the new Ukrainian state would be so poor it probably could not survive as an independent entity.

I wonder how our government would reply to the occupation of the house and senate chambers by several thousand protesters and people throwing Molotov cocktails at the park police in front of the white house.

It would depend. If it were a bunch of leftists, then the media would call it "democracy in action" and applaud it, as they did when Left-wing union protesters occupied the Wisconsin state capital building in 2011 to protest against right-to-work.

If it was TEA Party protesters, the media would call for the military to go in and kill us all.

As far as Ukraine is concerned, the media is on the side of the EU socialists, and against Putin because of his anti-gay and pro-Orthodox positions.

See post #3 this thread. There are no 100% good guys in this fight. The thread is about how they did it not why.

How many people would have bet that things would have ended as they did? Me I expected lots more blood in the streets and a lot of people in gulugs.

"I wonder how our government would reply to the occupation of the house and senate chambers by several thousand protesters and people throwing Molotov cocktails at the park police in front of the white house.... The media applauds this mob rule in the Ukraine”."

The protests started out peaceful over two months ago. .

--------------------------------------- Ask another question:
I wonder how our public would reply to the U.S. Government closing off the Mall area of Washington DC to protests?

I wonder how Americans would react, if the Park police started shooting people who protested peacefully in front of the White House with rubber bullets?< /b>

Those heavily Russian and mostly Russian areas are the heavy industry and coal mining areas. The rest live on welfare and potatoes.

Duh. You gotta be kidding. Maybe not. Ever hear of the Bread Basket of Europe?

The rich dark soil and the vast fields of wheat and other food products have earned Ukraine the nickname "bread basket of Europe."

According to the CIA World Factbook, Ukraine produced 25% of all agricultural output in the former Soviet Union. Today, Ukraine exports substantial amounts of grain, vegetables, sugar beets, sunflower seeds, milk and meat.

Exports (including non-food exports) go to Russia, 20%; the countries of the European Union, 17%; China, 7%; Turkey, 6%; and the U.S. 4%.

In addition, food processing, especially sugar processing, is an important industrial segment. Nearly one out of four workers in Ukraine is employed in agriculture or forestry related endeavors.

LOL. No one but historians call it that now. It hasn't been true since before the "revolution".

Yushenko banned the export of grain during his term of office because food prices were so high. Of course, this ruined the farmers, but socialists don't care about that sort of thing.
