According to the BBC, at least two large explosions have been heard in Simferopol, the capital of Crimea.
A local reports says the blasts came from Russian troops destroying Ukrainian ammunition depots. However, this report is unofficial and only coming from a French News source:
Update: The BBC is now offering these details on the explosions:
A loud bang was heard about 23:10 local time (21:10 GMT), following by a smaller blast, BBC reporters in Simferopol say.A city resident blogged about hearing an explosion come from the direction of Elevatornaya Street, where an electronic combat military unit is based.
Doesn't make sense.
Resistance by the Tartars?
Naw. Not a chance.
Hmmm, I’m not believing this.
Maybe they blew up their own depots so the Russians couldn’t use it. Makes more sense.
Maybe that new leader is trying to instigate something.
“Why blow up ammo depots when their own equipment uses the same ammo?”
If you can’t safely move it and you don’t want to defend where it is, you destroy it.
And that’s how the little instigator got to be the “illicit” leader.
Champagne cork popping?
No explosion in the city. It has been just confirmed by the reporter from Hromadske.TV Ukraine.
