My 28 y/o vegan son was home this weekend and asked if we watched the show "The Miller", we said no.
He said that he was watching it at the gym and they made fun of vegans and it hurt his feelings...IT was all I could do to NOT start in on the "See..now it's time you get the to hear it for a while. You want to live it..then suck it up."
Also tell him that no matter what some people tell him a quality female is not going to be impressed with his "sensitivity".
It is not what he is eating, it is what he is feeding his ego. And it is some pretty rotten stuff.
I think that’s great advice.
You are correct. Sensitive vegan males are not the alpha male type and women are naturally drawn to the alpha males. It’s built into their DNA.
Did his dad hold out his hand and demand repayment for all the years the farm put food in his belly, clothes on his back and bought that sheep’s skin? Too many adult children are slapping down their parents’ sacrifices these days.

3 years for me already after watching Forks Over Knives. The statistics presented convinced me. Feeling better than I have in 20 years. Way more energy.

Learned the hard way, like most parents.
Parenting is a long-term process that continues into adulthood as your kids continue to mature. Keeping a loving relationship is the basis for influence... and they do grow and change over time.
I’m sorry your son turned out so sorry. That’s gotta be rough.
My now 25 year old daughter was vegan for a while when she went away to college. We didn’t change our eating habits, but tried to accommodate her when she came home to visit. We tried to understand her new preference. She said it made her feel better, that she didn’t have as many gastric problems as before. She had been taking Pepto Bismol daily until she tried the vegan lifestyle. Eventually, the novelty wore off. She isn’t vegan anymore, but she did discover that she has a barley allergy while she was experimenting with food choices. She eats meat once in a blue moon, and loves cheese. She is not someone who would worry about teasing from others, especially on TV shows.
I’m a life long vegan, and suggest you tell your son to suck it up. He will meet very few fellow vegans in his public life and we live in an America bursting with heart-diseased obese carnivores. Marching to a different drum will mean that he will not “fit in” with the masses.

Puck you, you sanctimonious prick. Your attitude is the reason that most omnivores think vegans are a bunch of pucked up a-holes. The fact that someone eats meat does not automatically mean fat and heart disease. It is much more important to eat in a balanced manner, supplying your body what it needs regardless of the source, plant or animal.
An appropriate bumper sticker, “I didn’t claw my way to the top of the food chain just to eat vegetables”.
Why do you care what he eats? I would be more concerned that his wittle feewings could be “hurt” so easily at that age, by a TV show no less. What a delicate flower. He needs to have the courage of his convictions. I have watched the Millers a couple of times and think it is pretty funny because it is not PC.
I don’t think that this particular guy does well with people, period. He is extremely intelligent and gifted in several different areas, but never seems to achieve real success. The guy bought a German language book and taught himself German in a matter of weeks to test out f a language requirement in college. He was quite god at math, but only mediocre on the cello.
The girl divorced her began husband just before he received his PHD, saying that they could not both be cellists and compete against each other for jobs, and she was better than he was.
Divorce is tragic, but part of me says that's pretty funny.
