"Lysenkoism is used metaphorically to describe the manipulation or distortion of the scientific process as a way to reach a predetermined conclusion as dictated by an ideological bias, often related to social or political objectives."

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse:

"....Health care

During the passing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Whitehouse cautioned that conservative opposition to the bill was moving toward historical incidences of mob violence, saying, "Too many colleagues are embarked on a desperate, no-holds-barred mission of propaganda, obstruction and fear...cautions us of the excesses to which these malignant, vindictive passions can ultimately lead. Tumbrils have rolled through taunting crowds. Broken glass has sparkled in darkened streets. Strange fruit has hung from southern trees".

In December 2009, Whitehouse said "birthers", "fanatics", and "people running around in right-wing militia and Aryan support groups" oppose Obamacare.

Environmental issues

In November 2011, ThinkProgress reported Whitehouse's introduction of a bill that would require federal natural resource agencies to be concerned with the long-term effects of climate change, and to encourage preparation of natural resource adaptation plans by the states. The Safeguarding America’s Future and Environment Act (SAFE) Act also "would create a science advisory board to ensure that the planning uses the best available science”.

In reference to the proposed action on mandatory emissions curbs, Whitehouse told The Hill that “I am not hearing anybody on our side, even the people who are more economically concerned about the climate legislation who come from coal states, that sort of thing, saying, 'What are we going to say about this, is this a problem?’”

Whitehouse dismissed Climategate: “Climategate should properly be known as Climategate-gate because it was the scandal that was phony.”

In May 2011 Whitehouse introduced legislation to support coastal jobs and protect oceans. The National Endowment for the Oceans, Coasts, and Great Lakes Act (S.973) is pending.

Whitehouse has said that development of alternate energy sources, including solar power, will eliminate U.S. dependence on foreign oil. He has cited the installation of new solar panels on three new bank branches in Rhode Island, saying that the projects “created jobs, they put people to work, they lowered the cost for these banks of their electrical energy, and they get us off foreign oil and away, step by step, from these foreign entanglements that we have to get into to defend our oil supply”. In regard to these comments, PolitiFact investigated the economics of renewable energy and determined that solar and wind investments would not have a large effect on oil consumption, calling Whitehouse's comments "Mostly False" due to "this misimpression—and because of the other inaccuracies in Whitehouse’s speech".

On November 14, 2013, he gave his 50th weekly Senate speech on climate change. The series of speeches highlight the science of climate change and offer paths for the United States to take strong action.

Watch the MSM give this stupid non-event a lot of breathless coverage.
Meanwhile, the American people could care less. Half of us want a good paying job and the other half just want more government cheese. Democrats have nothing to offer the former. To capture the interest of the latter, a Climate Change Senatorial Seminar will not do. Dems will have to offer an unlimited EBT card, some blazing fast Internet gratis, and a smorgasbord of free “mature” cable programming.

The Media will advocate for this fraud during the elections to support the Left’s agenda.

Monday night. How politically clever of these geniuses. Hold an all nighter when everybody in America just went back to work, and wants to think about anything but work or politics, and being lectured to about what they “ought” to be doing. Smart.

Nothing as potentially dangerous as a ideological "true believer" in climate change

Senate Democrats are about to burn the midnight oil to make their case on climate change.

They are treating this like a religion.

There will be so much stupidity and hot air built up within the Capitol during that night, the old building might not be able to handle it. If the structure is breached, a great cloud of hot air, smug, and stupidity could rise up and destroy the atmosphere! The smug will follow the jet stream, circling the planet until it descends and infects billions of people and other life forms. It will be the greatest man made disaster in the history of the world!

Perpetuating a myth that has no real basis in fact. When the science is against you, argue the belief system, and it will all be real, at least in some alternate universe.

the fact that there is such a HUGE quantity of water in the ecosystem of earth, makes the potential for either runaway heating and cooling a very improbable course of events. Water, in whatever form and at whatever temperature, has a very specific heat content. It takes an enormous amount of external heat to change one gram of ice into one gram of water, even though the temperature of both the ice and the water are exactly the same, 0 gradients Celsius. Likewise, it takes an even more enormous amount of external heat to change one gram of water into one gram of water vapor at any point on the Centigrade scale from 0 gradients to 100 gradients. Above 100 gradients Celsius, all water is converted to water vapor at the normal conditions of earth’s atmospheric pressure.

It is this characteristic of water that moderates the atmosphere of earth so the temperature range never gets far outside a relatively narrow range, unless some very extreme external forces are in effect, like either an enormous burst of energy from the sun, or some relative reduction of the energy output of the same sun, by shielding the earth atmosphere from exposure. And the internal heat of the earth, which is still essentially a molten core, may from time to time escape to the surface, as the earth is slowly cooling over time, and heat vents rupture, releasing the heat in sudden surges. Given the enormity of these natural phenomena, the pitiful little bit that mankind does is akin to the possibility that the activity of an anthill beneath the sidewalk would topple a skyscraper.

Perhaps the Crimea situation will continue to degrade, thus sucking the oxygen from this...
