A House committee report claims Lois Lerner, who oversaw the Internal Revenue Service’s scrutiny of tea party groups seeking tax-exempt status, lied to Congress about her involvement in the targeting scandal.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee released a report Tuesday concluding that Lerner “created unprecedented roadblocks for Tea Party organizations” and “worked surreptitiously to advance new Obama administration regulations that curtail the activities of existing 501(c)(4) organizations.” […]
The emails paint a picture of IRS officials being aware of the potential political consequences of their actions and the increasing attention on the issue. On several occasions, Lerner received emails from colleagues that focused on the political involvement of tax-exempt conservative groups.
In March 2012, IRS Deputy Division Counsel Janine Cook sent an article to Lerner that discussed the potential congressional investigations and the IRS’s treatment of tax-exempt applicants. Lerner responded by writing: “we’re going to get creamed.” …

Sorry, the IRS scandal is ending. This is just a little red meat for the base. Boehner gave away the IRS funding tools he had and doesn’t intend to do anything about the IRS scandal. Never once has Boehner directly engaged the kenyan regarding the obama IRS abusing Americans. We can’t take the focus off obamacare, dontcha know!
How much time did Bush’s guy get for just lying to congress?...He DIDN’T lie. He was grilled numerous times until he said something that didn’t align with what he said weeks ago, or he said something that didn’t align with prior testimony. The FBI asked “were lying then, or are you lying now?” GUILTY, said the Dems.

Given the utter lack of progress in punishing Fast & Furious, which was certainly state-sponsored terrorism &mdsah; and arguably the easiest treason case in 70 years — I have to wonder how much of Issa is just a blustering, billowing smokescreen.

The GOP thinks the mid terms are in the bag. I expect them to get even more timid and cautious. That means no serious escalation on the IRS scandal. Just a few more debate club hearings to get us to the election.
It’s pretty clear who’s been tapped to be thrown to the wolves. Lerner is now in the position of hoping the wolves go away first. She may get her wish.
