This is something the TV media are not reporting to the extent it is an explosive development.
We know from media reports the two stolen passports were used by two Iranian Nationals. We have previously been told the passports were used to try and gain entry to Europe their final destination. However, if this report from the LA Times is accurate EVERYTHING changes and actually aligns with our theory of why the plane was taken.

I wonder if MH370, having re-crossed the Malaysian peninsula, might've escaped detection by staying on the northern arc...initially on a heading toward Rangoon...then diverted inland on a route up the Burmese-Thailand border...then worked its way west via the border of Assam & China (i.e., WW II's "The Hump"), Nepal & Tibet and the Himalayas and eventually finding its way thru the back door, over the Karakoram Range, into Northern Pakistan.
The entire route would be over virtually uninhabited, extremely rough country, offering plenty of screening from radar. And probably very little radar surveillance, as well.
Maybe a diversion to Russian activity, so condoned?

Seems an elaborate diversion. And Russia seems to be reveling in the attention they’re receiving.
If the plane landed, I think the intentions are for something earth-shattering.

Maybe the pilot(s) want to help the Chinese Muzzies (Uighurs) by either using the aircraft to smuggle them out or use the 777 as a weapon against a Chinese target.
Or the mountains in that area were used to do mask their route to get to Iran. How the Chinese military could not notice them flying over Thailand and into their airspace seems a little out there. It’s possible the pilot(s) used a major air corridor and maybe flew in formation with another airliner very closely to mask their own signature until they got into the mountains.
