In defense of the Jack Booted Armed & Dangerous, after a man shoots your dog, and you are in the same alley, what might you assume he would do to you?

Just wonderin’.

As for the killing of a crook who was armed and clearly willing to use the gun, I think a box of donuts should be awarded - think of the prison costs not charged to the tax payers!

You can criticize other LE offices for shooting dogs but not Anaheim’s. They are pretty empathetic in dealing with dogs.

And I’m not talking about Amish specifically, who have an excuse if they speak German. I’m talking about the white people in PA. ;-) (No, I’m really not kidding!) “Ivorics”, perhaps?

Well here’s the problem - if a police dog frightens you, and you shoot the dog, the cop will use that act as justification to shoot you, and he will not be charged with a crime. In addition, the law treats your shooting of the police dog as equal to the murder of a human police officer.

But if a cop is frightened by your dog and he shoots it, and then you use that act to shoot the officer, you will be charged with murder. In addition, the shooting of your dog by the officer will be treated as utterly irrelevant by the law, and comprising no loss whatsoever.

The probem here is the extremity of the difference the law takes towards the two scenarios, because it is literally 180 degrees. And it plainly says that cops and police dogs are human beings, and non-cops and non-police dogs are not human beings, and not even dogs.

Historically speaking, the government taking the position that the population can be killed on sight does not wrk out well - especially when government officials actually go around killing people on sight.

And when the government takes the further position that harm to a government animal is a more serious crime than the cold-blooded murder of a citizen, it creates a situation that cannot end well for anyone.

None of this is hypothetical. It’s becoming extremely to the citizens of this country that all cops only wear one badge number: 007.

I agree...If a police dog is ripping your leg apart you're supposed to lay there and enjoy it??? Not me...I'd do whatever I could to dislodge the dog...

What kind of a cop would send a dog (and a presumed pet) after someone who is holding a gun???

Police dogs serve a valuable purpose. I’m not arguing that. But they are NOT police officers - yet that is what the law calls them. And a cop WILL shoot you if you try to shoot his police dog and he will NOT be charged with murder for shooting you. But if the same cop shoots YOUR dog and you shoot the cop for it, you WILL be charged with murder.

What I’m saying is that this sh!t is getting crazy. We’re not talking abuot insults, beatings or arrests - we’re talking about cops just flat-out summarily executing people, rather than backing off, getting backup, using time and other police practices. A citizen’s human life has become dogsh!t to cops, while their dogs have become higher than human life - and the law protects this reversal of everything civilization is supposed to stand for.

This is wrong.

"their peculiar form of english was actually part of the dutch language spoken in their “native” Holland."

The word "Dutch" does not refer to the Dutch people or their descendants. Instead it is probably left over from an archaic sense of the English word "Dutch"; compare German Deutsch ('German'), Dutch Duits ('German'), Diets ('Dutch'), which once referred to any people speaking a non-peripheral continental West Germanic language on the European mainland.[2] Alternatively, some sources give the origin of "Dutch" in this case as a corruption or a "folk-rendering" of the Pennsylvania German endonym "Deitsch".

It has traditionally been the language of the Pennsylvania Dutch, descendants of late 17th and early 18th century immigrants to the US states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina from southern Germany, eastern France (Alsace and Lorraine) and Switzerland.

The same question applies in reverse: if a police officer shoots your dog, what might you assume he would do to you?

“Don’t shoot our dogs, but we’ll shoot your dogs whenever we want to do so anyway” is a double-standard which needs to be stopped.
