The Crimea 'Referendum': Russia Revealed
The Americn Thinker ^ | March 21, 2014 | Kim Zigfeld

Posted on 03/24/2014 12:09:24 AM PDT by No One Special

It’s shocking how quickly Russia has been revealed before the eyes of the world by its actions in Ukraine as a neo-Soviet dictatorship ruled by a pathologically violent and dishonest maniac. And it’s equally shocking to see how slowly, despite their recent history with dictators, the NATO allies have moved to confront this horrifying reality, reminding one inevitably of European dithering during the rise of the Nazis.

On March 4, 2014, Russian “president” Vladimir Putin appeared at a news conference. A journalist asked him: “How do you see the future of Crimea? Do you consider the possibility of it joining Russia?” Putin’s answer was unequivocal: “No, we do not.” This is not a report of the exchange from some media source that might be biased against Russia, it is taken directly from the Kremlin’s own website.

Two weeks later, on March 18, 2014, Putin staged a “referendum” in Crimea. While hundreds of Russian soldiers looked on, pointing guns, and with a ballot that gave no alternative of staying in Ukraine, Crimeans were asked whether they wanted to join Russia. When the “votes” were tallied, more than 95% of them supported joining Russia. Within hours, Putin annexed it.

So once again, Putin lied, and then he used brutish Soviet tactics to take what he wanted by force, even as he vociferously decried the use of military force by the USA in places like Syria and Iran. It’s fine, in other words, for Putin to use military force rather than diplomacy to grab territory from neighbors, but it is unacceptable for the USA to use force to inhibit the development of nuclear weapons in nations committed to its destruction....

Is Obama running Russia too?

Putin is a Russian nationalist first and foremost. He sees that as his role. He holds in distain any leader of another country who does not see that as their role, to do the same for their country that he is doing for his. That’s why he despises Obama.

Putin is a dirty capitalist pig in the truest communist sence of the word. An unscrupulous billionaire who will resort to using the tactics he’s learned as a communist/socialist fuctionary that were used to advance their causes.

But his primary effort is to have Russia control the energy markets where they exist such as europe with complete domination. Going as far as to use Russian military with foreign bases to threaten compeditor supply lines with the possibility of conflict. Or controlling areas that threaten Russian competition by might.

In short Putin is an excommunist using communist/socialist tactics who is waging a capitalist war over energy (oil).

Lately, the FReeREpublic has become a site hostile to anti-Putin sentiments. If not in sheer number, then at least in their tireless fawning and giddy praise at each new cunning exploitation of his weak neighbors. I’m pretty sure the author of this article will be trashed for daring to hold President for Life Putin to normal standards.

Putin, despite the admiration of his Putinista posters here, has grown filthy and personally rich off of theft from the Russian people. He's like nearly all despots; he's taking care of number one. The boobs and dupes who describe him as some type of religious ascetic are as naive as Obama. http://www.cnbc.com/id/101513102#_gus

NEW YORK, March 20 (Reuters) - The most startling part of Washington's sanctions on Russian businessmen loyal to President Vladimir Putin may be a single sentence that contains an explosive allegation: that Putin himself profits from the world's No. 4 oil trading company, Gunvor.

Among the people the United States sanctioned on Thursday as part of its drive to put pressure on Russia for its intervention in Ukraine was businessman Gennady Timchenko, a long-time acquaintance of Putin and, until this week, co-owner of Geneva-based Gunvor, which trades nearly 3 percent of the world's oil.

In announcing the sanctions, the Treasury Department went a step further, adding a single sentence that hits squarely at one of the most controversial topics that Putin has faced in 13 years as the Kremlin ruler and head of the government

Why does the unruly rob that toppled, by thuggery, the legally elected Ukrainian goverment get a bye?

Who’s behind and financing them? What consequence would a bankrupt Ukraine bring to a financially shaky EU?

The free worlds enemies are in Washington DC...not across the Atlantic.

In the Bloggers & Personal forum, on a thread titled The Crimea ‘Referendum’: Russia Revealed, elhombrelibre wrote:

This in response to my comment that “Putin is a captialist pig”. An excommunist fuctionary using the communist/socialist tactics he learned to wage a captialist war over the sole control and distribution of Russian energy resources gas and oil to european and asian markets.
In the full reply “elhombre” identifies the vehicle Putin is associated with which adds import to this thread.
Thanks hombrelibre

Thank you, too, for realizing one doesn't support Putin because he opposes Obama. In an ideal world, we'd never have sided with either Stalin or Hitler in WWII. Putin's tyranny is similar to Obama's. The only difference is how they dress up their justifications.

And Obama doesn't have $75 billion dollars like Putin. So despite the carefully cultivated image as a Russian patriot and super Christian, Putin is rich beyond nearly everyone's level.

That seems plausible. I have a hard time getting a handle on him.
