The states with the most segregated public schools are epicenters of liberalism

The state with the most segregated public schools is New York.

Other states with exceptionally segregated schools include California, Illinois and Michigan.

These findings come from a longitudinal study of enrollment figures conducted by the Civil Rights Project at the University of California at Los Angeles, The Associated Press reports. The period studied was 1998 through 2010.

New York, California, Illinois and Michigan are traditionally among the most reliably Democratic states in the union, as an interactive 2012 map created by Slate shows.

A 2013 “State of the States” feature by Gallup indicates that New York, California and Illinois are “solid Democratic” strongholds. Michigan leans Democratic.

Researchers determined the level of segregation by measuring the exposure of students at a school to students from racial groups different from their own.

In the entire state of New York, approximately half the public school students are white. However, during the 2009-2010 academic year, a typical black kid in the Empire State attended a school where just 17.7 percent of the students were white.

In Illinois, the exposure number for black kids was 18.8 percent. In California, it was 18.9 percent.

Similarly, about half of the public school students in New York state come from families defined as low-income, but in 2010 the average black student — and the average Latino student — went to a school where 70 percent of the students were low-income.

“In the 30 years I have been researching schools, New York state has consistently been one of the most segregated states in the nation. No Southern state comes close to New York,” Gary Orfield, co-director of the Civil Rights Project and an author of the report, told the AP.

In fact, no Southern state is in the top four.

If the parents of any race student can afford it, they are better off not going to schools that are being run by gangs ,low lifes. Charter Schools are not always a panacea. Some Charter Schools, just like public schools get caught up in Zero Tolerance rules that result in stupid, decisions, (i.e. Pop Tart ‘Gun’ Suspensions) but the right private of charter school can save a student from becoming another failure statistic.

My only black neighbor says he’s unusual in the sense that he’s comfortable living among whites because he’s ideologically similar to his neighbors.

He says you could give a million dollar home to an inner city black family in the country but 9 of 10 won’t live in it.

Mostly because they would feel isolated from what they know.

My neighbor says he wouldn’t have moved here if not for fishing in the area for years and finding that everybody was friendly and not the racists he had been taught we were.

On the other hand I can’t see anyone convincing me to live in town either.

This might amuse: Upscale school revives a satire about race - Student actors confront their fear of offending people, as they depict a 1960s Southern town that can't function when all the black folk disappear

Which came first, the liberalism or the segregation?

Things that make you say, “Hmmm...”

I went to the article and copied this. Do you think a public school could do this play especially with 7th and 8th graders and in a mixed racial area??

Without triggering a big uproar? From various factions???

“At first, we didn’t want to do it, didn’t want to say the word ‘nigra’.... But we learned this is a way to bring a message. I hope [the audience] figures out this isn’t a negative message.”

Fears lurked near the surface among her fellow thespians-in-training. Maybe blacks in the audience would take offense at references to “darkies” or “jigaboos.” Or whites would resent being portrayed as fumblers who couldn’t change a diaper or cook an egg without help. Or maybe everyone would sigh impatiently at yet another lecture on the virtues of diversity.

“I’m sure I’ll get comments, like, ‘Enough of this white-bashing,’ “ said Ms. Freeman, a 22-year-old English and theater teacher. “Of course, I worry about it, but I’d rather that theater be provocative than predictable.”

The students’ production of “Day of Absence” opened with actors in white masks - a modified version of the original use of white face paint. Soon they lifted the masks, but they continued to caricature the white characters, whose panic spread with news that their nannies, garbage collectors, delivery persons, and switchboard operators had vanished.”

All of the people are stereotyped by RACE.

And that’s just wrong.

It’s so ridiculous.

It’s an insult to humanity.

Also to Blacks, because look at what stations in life they all occupy according to this.

And I’ve seen this same depiction of Hispanic Americans.

All are poor and doing the most menial of jobs.

All whites are “rich”.

Uh huh...sure.

In your original post I responded to you said “this might amuse”.

I agree, it would be laughable - if not sad.
