Not terror? 4 dead, 16 hurt at Fort Hood

The unthinkable has happened at Fort Hood, Texas, the site of a 2009 terror massacre that killed 14, with another mass shooting leaving four dead and 16 people injured Wednesday at 4:25 p.m. CDT at the U.S. Army’s largest military installation.

The shooter, identified as 34-year-old Ivan Lopez, is among the dead. Lopez reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and had been wearing an Army combat uniform at the time of the attack. Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, III Corps commander at Fort Hood, said the shooter was a soldier who was under evaluation for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Six injured soldiers are being treated at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, a city about 20 minutes outside Fort Hood. According to hospital officials, the victims have a variety of injuries, including multiple gunshot wounds to the neck and abdomen.

I listened last evening to the post commander and his response to a question of continuing post policy to not allow soldiers to be armed on post. It made my blood boil. He said he had no intentions of changing the procedure. How idiotic is that after admitting it took 15 minutes for military police to arrive. Soldiers who are trained in weapon handing and who are sent into combat with weapons, supposedly can not be trusted to carry weapons on post. This statement by a general officer is criminal, especially after a previous Fort Hood killing spree.

This stuff did not seem to happen in deployment stress when everyone was loaded.

This statement by a general officer is criminal, especially after a previous Fort Hood killing spree.

By the very fact that he has survived Obama's military upper echelon purges tells us exactly what his opinion of his troops is, and his view on the suitability of them defending themselves.

I guess wuss commanders are afraid of recruits wandering off base with issued weapons and selling them. More to protect repercutions from antiwar civilians.

However it does point that they would colonize civilian surroundings by lobbying mayors to disarm citizens. Much happens in behind closed doors and many militaries seek mayorships after retirement in surrounding cities.

Certainly the government cannot solve all crimes and should not be in the business of licensing self defense like they would bounty hunters.

What about the nutjob at the Texas or Texas A&M clock tower? Was he a student or ex-military?

I thought we were in the process of disarming people who had sought mental health treatment, or were diagnosed with PTSD for “safety reasons”, why wasn’t he similarly disarmed? Surely if he wouldn’t have had that .45 if someone took all of his guns away.

I noticed this stuff never happens with “bitter clingers”.

Obama era thinking -

Not terrorism related because the guy didn’t shout “Aloha Ackbar”.

Even in Nidal Hasan’s case, it is ‘workplace violence’ and Obama gave shoutouts to his bundlers first.

So I wonder what they will label this case, “mild opinion dispute”?

/Not intend to insult those killed / injured and their families

As trooper Grisham put it, why didn’t someone tell the shooter the post was a ‘gunfree zone’?
It really is criminal on the parts of Clinton, Obama and the department of the Army—IOW, the federal gov.—if a third shooter slaughters more unarmed soldiers. Why isn’t the federal government looking out for US troops?
Why are combat troops distrusted with weapons?
Why don’t we have armed guards protecting children in schools that aren’t attended by Beltway apparatchiks?

It was criminal after the first shooting—recall the insane major who was e-mailing anyone and everyone of his intentions.
Why wasn’t the ‘National Security Agency’ reading his mail?
What good are they?

Yes, it is VERY important to keep soldiers FAR away from guns.

And the best defense is no defense at all.

I swear, we are in the Bizarro universe.

Maybe it was a “faked” illness to cover up any clandestine action.

The Left LOVES to say that only the military and police should be armed, yet every soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine on every base in America is forced to be disarmed unless they’re considered part of a privileged class of MPs or other such garbage.

When a “mass shooting” happens on a military base, and with a pistol nonetheless, it must put the Left into a tailspin since they make no bones about the military being the only ones trained to properly operate and handle firearms yet they have to wait 15 minutes for local police to show up to handle a single guy with a handgun, not even an “assault rifle!”

The political correctness bullshit has GOT to stop in this country. How many mass shootings, how many soldiers, how many children is it going to take before the people of this country stand up, dust the Cheetos crumbs out of their laps and say, “I’ve had enough of this. The Second Amendment means something. Lock and load!” (???)

There's more to this story than what we're being told

Has he been sitting in on some muzzie talks or visiting a musque ?.. (typo intentional)

With 4 dead and 16 injured, it is clear it was not just a dispute among soldiers.

Now that raises the question of “motive”.

He recently bought the gun. So it was premeditated. Was he paid to do this?

Do you remember the comment by the mother of the soldier who shot Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield? He told his mother he made a pact with the devil.

It is interesting that there has not been a single word in the press about Chris Kyle’s shooter.
