When David Jolly beat Alex Sink in a recent special election for a Florida congressional seat, the knee jerk reaction from the GOPes pet pollsters was to immediately warn the Republican rank and file that Jolly didnt win because of Obamacare. Who are you going to believe, us or your lying eyes? came to mind.
Phonies like Karl Rove pontificated about how winning elections requires more than simply getting on the right side of issues voters care about and hammering that message home. Hey, who knew there was more to winning elections than supporting the things voters want and opposing the things they hate?
Clearly it takes more than bottom line election results to convince these experts. Nevertheless, what those of us who know how to pour water out of a boot knew all along has been...

THe GOP-e has never met a winning issue it couldn’t screw up.
We need to be for something, not just against evil:
“Repeal ObamaCare so the private sector can resume creating full-time jobs that pay well.”
“Cut federal spending aggressively so that the money currently wasted by ineffective federal programs will be available for ordinary people to spend for our own priorities, including to expand our small businesses and create jobs.”
“Stop using taxpayer dollars to bail out big businesses that have connections so our money will be available for more productive purposes, including school vouchers so that kids in failing schools can get a quality education today rather than ‘some day’.”
“Require voter ID in all federal elections, and provide photo ID for free to anyone who doesn’t currently have ID - free and fair elections require honest elections, and it’s time to bring back the honest government that the Tea Party and all decent people support.”
GOP e want to moderate because the Big Health and Corporate America wants Obamacare. Corporate America do not want to be in the health business, they want to free up capital to do business and dump the expensive healthcare on taxpayers. Obamacare admin costs can be aborbed by Corporate America but it will hamper middle size and small upcoming companies. IAW Obamacare chokes off small companies from growing big quickly to challenge big established corporations.
Big Healthcare love Obamacare because they help write a law that requires Americans to buy their products. Just look at the stock prices of the healthcare companies. It soared. Even crazier, Obamacare has a bailout clause to cover Big Healthcare losses in the first couple years if the rollout is shaky. Despite most of the Obamacare enrollees are sick and very little young healthy enrollees are in it to make it financially sustainable, Big Health does not care because the taxpayers will make up the difference. That is why Big Health is against repealing ACA. They already sunk money into it and expect some reasonable profit before the system is unplugged. Their lobbyists and donors are already amongst the GOP trying to kill off any talk of appeal. This is a big rice bowl for corporate America and big healthcare.
the GOP should run ads that would be a slap in the face to Democrats. The theme of the ads would be slamming democrats being they have no ideas/solutions to lower the costs of health-care.Just like they claim that Republicans have offered no solutions, yet we have plenty of evidence to prove that GOP/Conservatives have offered plenty of ideas, but Prince Harry wont even consider them.
The GOPe is in full “be afraid, be very afraid” mode visàvis the Tea Party, its candidates and its supporters (also known as the GOP base).
I was thinking about Hillary the other day. A voter who is now 30, was 9 years old when Clinton was elected. Such a voter will have almost no knowledge of all the Clinton scandals.
