Posted on 04/17/2014 10:07:33 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet
The cattle-ranch protest in Nevada was an armed insurrection by the Tea Party. One thousand Tea Party, so-called patriots, came to Bunkerville, NV, brandished weapons and the government backed down. Other mass protests in America have either ended in arrests or violent clashes between authorities and protesters.
There is an obvious double standard here because the government relented and turned away. Why did the government do this? The main difference between many other mass protests and the cattle-ranch protest is that the cattle-ranch protesters were armed with handguns and assault rifles.
Is American in such a state where the new formula of effective protest comes in the form of armed insurrection? Lets hope not. It shouldnt be.
There have been many past instances where standoffs ended in violence and injustice. The Wounded Knee incident in 1973 is a strong example of such injustice. The American Indian Movement (AIM) was a standoff with the U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
The standoff started when AIM leadership and hundreds of activists representing the Oglala Lakota tribe stood in protest in the town of Wounded Knee against the corrupt tribal president Richard Wilson. The siege lasted for over two months, and after an armed standoff with government officials, the protest was destroyed, the government reclaimed control of Wounded Knee, and Wilson retained office, despite charges of voter fraud and intimidation. Two protesters were killed and 13 others were injured.
Once again, the federal government failed the Native Americans.
Then theres the Kent State shooting where the Ohio National Guard killed four students and injured nine, some suffering from permanent paralysis as a result of their injuries. The most tragic thing about Kent State was that the students were unarmed and protesting against American occupation in Vietnam.
The result was the same at Kent State as it was at Wounded Knee. People protesting for a popular and just cause were gunned down and silenced by the government. Uncle Sam got his way.
Fast forward to the Occupy Movement. Thankfully, no shots were fired and no one was killed. However, an unarmed mass of young protesters were dismantled by government intervention and many Occupy protesters were hauled away to jail. Another mass assembly for a popular cause broken down by the federal government.
So, why in the hell does the Tea Party get a pass? Is it because theyre white Americans with guns? The federal government certainly didnt back down against the MOVE Organization in Philadelphia. Local law enforcement even went as far as to drop a bomb onto the West Philadelphia MOVE headquarters in 1985. The FBI supplied the bomb to the Philadelphia police.
There is an obvious double standard here. But whats the x-factor? Is it race? Guns? Demographics? Ideology? Or a combination of many things?
“Is Cattlemen Armed Insurrection the New Form of American Protest?
Yes... That’s the only protest that will work.
Waco, Ruby Ridge.
Lexington and Concord.
Bunkerville.....The LORD works in mysterious ways.
Pervasive, continued Leftist overreach.
Consider the source. Wittle bobby puss boy kennedy jr is a nut case of the highest degree. If you could ever stand it, listen to him sometime. Pure wack job.
Sounds like an argument that strongly favors the Second Amendment.
There’s something going on here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mr. Joshua?
It is moral clarity, if those with the moral authority are gunned down, they would cause an outright rebellion.
They don’t want to go there yet.
The authors sound like a socialist who wants a fair distribution of government violence for the sake of being “fair”, and without thinking through the position of why they want to live in a country with a government like that.
He has a very selective memory.
He’s obviously disappointed that there weren’t deaths at Bunkerville.
Bunkerville is a culmination of 8 years of lawlessness coming to a head. It’s the government that’s the lawbreakers. Not the rancher. 1 million dollars in grazing fees? And if you don’t pay....we will send snipers and swap teams and tazer you and kill and steal your livestock. And then our Senate Majority leader will label you as a Terrorist while he negotiates your land from the communist Chinese and says its all about a turtle. What’s wrong with this picture?
When the president his AG and his entire cabinet are utterly lawless brigands this is most certainly how the people will react. Keep it up and you’ll find out how many millions of us feel the same way.
They also love to use their snipers with mounted heat sensor scopes to
locate occupants inside a building, then shoot them before burning the place down.
Every one of those cowardly bastards should be exposed because they
had every intention of killing somebody that day at the ranch with
military weapons at the ready.
How long before, or should I ask, what will Americans say when Local/State/Federal departments
start arming the Drones flying over our neighborhoods and schools. Over American soil.
And for which reason will they Bomb an American, besides Turtles. If they go this far using
a Turtle for an excuse to steal rights nothing will be left to protect us from summary execution
on the whim of the Federal Chimps.
I guess my only comment is, gfy, josh ... you and all the gummint horses y'rode in on.
Big difference between OWLS and what just happened.
The cowboys didn’t get rowdy. They didn’t throw rocks, they didn’t destroy and tear up the land, and they didn’t give the BLM the excuse they needed to open fire and have another Waco type battle.
Had the BLM fired on them, the cowboys were well equipped to defend themselves. BLM showed up armed to the teeth, so of course they had their weapons in case they needed them.
Popular? I don’t recall the Occupy movement as being popular, nor the Vietnam War protests either.
Bobby Jr is a whiny little sleeze and belongs to the blame America firtst crowd. He doesn’t have the brains or the gumption that God gave a goose.
It’s gotta be “white privilege”.
firtst = first
whites were activists at Wounded knee
whites were students were at Kent state
whites were people in Occupy
the arguement the Bundy crew got a pass because they were white is nonsensical, based on the author’s own examples!
I imagine that some on the BLM side of things understood that as well. The guns that the cowboys and the militia and the wives and daughters had were not for show. They were for their protection if so needed.
It would not surprise me that at some time in the future the Feds will need to install provocateurs into the people's ranks in order to fire the first shot.
Like the reports of snipers at Kent State. When no tangible evidence existed for that.
Hmm. Seems like when a group of Feds IS facing an enemy with known or presumed snipers, they are less willing to fight.
And we also had people who were deliberately trying to start riots. So Kent State today would likely be a blood bath 10 times worse.
Government authorities armed to the teeth with military equipment, gear, and snipers have no business being used against peaceful protesters. That's what the riot gear is for.
However, Boston demonstrated that we have indeed chosen a path a militarized type police state.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box?
How many protestors crapped on a BLM Vehicle? Just asking.
“Well, during the Vietnam protests there were agitators who were specifically trying to provoke authorities into over reacting...”
Good point. It doesn’t mean ONLY a Fed operator, but a wacko like that KKK guy that shot up that Jewish center or someone similar. Trying to provoke a civil war or whatever for their own purposes.
Beats the hell out of Gandi using human shields.
I guess one must be weak and gang raped like little kids, the way Obama was raised. It makes for so much more popularity to be weak and a whore protester. I suppose it could charm a few sick privilegist cops.
I believe they faced them unarmed. This person is not too bright. And probably all anti-gun obsessed.
If this had happened in NY, NJ, IL, MA, CA, OR, or WA the BLM would have opened fire and many protestors would have been killed.
Only because NV has so many ranchers and open carry laws was this allowed.
If it happens again in a hard blue state - be prepared.....
BLM does not have legal police powers granted by congress, so its swat team was not legal. The BLM has the right though to hire police services on contract. BLM employees do not have authority to confront, harrass, or intimidate citizens as you can see them doing on several of the videos. BLM behavior was illegal. Taking the cattle was actually theft.
I think you are mistaken that IR can see through walls.
1.the protesters were mostly outside agitators
2. The girl usually depicted was a runaway and part time prostitute not a student
3. SDS organized this and they were throwing rocks bottles Nd construction debris at the soldiers who were Nat Guard and not trained in crowd control
A tragedy yes but not the way it is usually depicted by azz wipes like RFK jr
“NEW YORK CITY?”
“Get a rope.”
This article, more specifically, the author is a nutcase, really.
What a bunch of revisionist, one sided crap.
Wounded Knee? Kent State? Occupy Wall Street?
Three historical conflicts with three extremely different purposes and results. The author then says everyone who came to Bunkerville was a Tea Party ‘so-called’ Patriot and then proceeds to whine about why “they got a pass”.
Where, my friend, in your pea brain recollection does Ruby Ridge Fall? Where does Waco fall?
My 10 year old grand daughter could have made a better argument for any of her causes than this. The article gives the term ‘sophomoric’ a bad name.
The X factor was the thousands more that we’re on the way.
At Waco and other places the Feds could go the the motel and relax after their shift. They had America at their back.
Things have changed. Now they have America at their back.
We see Obama backing down from Putin because he doesn’t want violence (a liberal mantra) ... Would he back away from domestic violence for the same reason? Looks like he did. This doesn’t compute for me because I really believe he is arming to control the masses ... But if the masses hold a gun....
Has Josh NEVER been taught the history of Our Second Amendment?Does she believe it is just for duck hunting or the gun range target shoot? Has he/she/it been so misled by public education that they believe only domestic terrorists carry guns? Was this guy an accolade for Harry Reid? Or just a democratic Party paid activist? What I do not understand is WHY there are so many ignorant people who rant about the evil?
TEA Party? The ol boys ignorance is painted by his white animus. Has he forgotten Marcus? This was a MAD Magazine reject as satire right?
I would feel more in jeopardy within 100 meters of a Kennedy operating anything with and internal combustion engine in it than I would standing next to the Bundy family.
NEW YORK CITY!!? Get a rope.
Suddenly I want some Pace picante sauce over my scrambled eggs this morning.
Anyway, RFK Jr. is a whacked out drugged out alkie like most of his clan so what he says is of zero consequence. Surprised he didn’t say “The BLM should have opened fire on those teabaggers!!!” That’ll come later, just watch.
This is the first time I’ve heard the Tea Party associated with the Bundy Ranch activity.
I guess if you’re going to smear somebody...might as well be as inclusive as possible. Use a wide brush.
Sounds like Josh is disappointed there wasn’t a bloodbath with significant loss of life on the Bundy side.
What an azzwipe.
“BLM does not have legal police powers granted by congress, so its swat team was not legal.”
I’m still wondering how they (BLM) have the power to order a ‘No Fly Zone’ over U.S. Government property and the Bundy ranch.
Horses can trample thugs & knock over their trucks real easy.
The fact that the TEA Party protesters are just the tip of an iceberg. The MOVE people were not even popular among the black community. The Indians were a small movement, not hooked into mainstream society. Kent State was a panic reaction by National Guardsmen, not a deliberate order.
The government employees do not want to piss off the people who are in their neighborhoods and know where they live. Or as Fight Club aptly put it:
Because the gov’t backed down.
Why did the gov’t back down?
Because they did not have The Constitution on their side. The best measure of their OWN sense of illegitimacy was that when their authority was challenged they ran. No righteous steward of The Law COULD EVER do as the government did in NV.
This confrontation did not happen in a vacuum. For better than a century power has been stolen fron The People and centralized in the executive. What made 2014 different is that an executive has now picked up all of the strands of the various agencies and, having them in hand, SPOKEN LAW INTO BEING.
HE SPOKE LAW INTO BEING!
The psychic anger that has been building for decades in all honest Men who can understand simple language, was added to intolerably and exploded. Men who had other work to do put it aside and picked up their guns and stood up for The Law as they understood it.
People will try to caricaturize these Patriots in all the usual ways (just as the author has done)but those guns were LOADED. They were not symbolic. They were not being used to send a message or scare anyone. They were the tools of War in the hands of men who “had business in their eye” and who MEANT to defend Right if it cost them their lives. With the unerring instinct for self preservation that all animals have the government abandoned their implied claim of Duty and made a choice for War later rather than War right now.
Mr. Kennedy's errand boy lectures us about "violence and injustice" and a "double standard."
You don't want to go there buddy.
What Kennedy doesn’t understand, or if he does, does not acknowledge, is the fact that we as Liberty-minded patriots oppose government overreach and militarization, regardless of what political cause the protestors represent. The people had the right, have the right and will have the right no matter what some bureaucrat says.
The first amendment zones or areas they established and the blatant scare tactics of militarily armed storm troopers are what boiled my blood. Hell no!!!
I will gladly defend any protestors against Gestapo tactics!
Most people really have no clue about the Spirit of American Independence of 1776. They quake in their shoes thinking about opposing the Redcoats then, or the Fedcoats today. Only a few are Patriots. The rest are Tories. Then and now.

Ballistic CALCFORMS How to Use / Introduction
I hope everyone on this forum decides they want to become an expert shooter and learn how to hit a 5 gallon bucket at 1000 yards with their first shot. It a challenge that's worth your time. That I'll guarantee you.
Joshua de Leon obviously does not understand the difference between a mob of unarmed protesters and the constitutionally armed militia.
The US govt backed down for a few reasons at the Bundy ranch. One of which is that they were severely outgunned. Another was the fact that they did not have the moral highground. They were the lawless agressor.
The militias are not comprised of a bunch of college kids. They are mostly former military and/or LEo’s with combat experience. They are not going be cowed by a bunch of forest rangers with tactical gear and few mercs from Blackwater.
As long as the US govt continues its lawless attacks on the American public the response from the militia will continue and intensify.
