....I see only two paths for America today. First, some miracle will happen in which a couple hundred constitutionalists like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee and Trey Gowdy will be elected to the House and Senate over the next few election cycles, and something resembling the Founders republic will be restored, but given the current climate of relentless progressivism, massive bureaucracy, government dependence, and voter ignorance, that seems like a very remote possibility.
The second path is that complacency, ignorance, and indifference will allow more progressives and communists to be elected, the federal government will continue to grow and amass power unchecked, and one day very soon, we will we will witness the birth of a police state that will make the Gestapo, the KGB, and the Stasi look like pikers and dilettantes.
He**, the argument could be made that the police state is already here. I read an article not long ago about the Stasi Museum in Berlin that described the files that the East German secret police accumulated over the course of forty-five years, and it is nothing less than staggering. Imagine a shelf, 65 miles long, crammed with file folders full of photos and detailed handwritten and typed notes about almost every citizen of East Germany. Im not really up to speed about the state-of-the-art data storage devices of today and what they are able to store, but I would bet that entire 65 mile shelf of paper and photographs would today fit in a metal and plastic box about the size of a standard four-drawer file cabinet. But if I am wrong about that, no need to worry; your government is building a 1.5 MILLION square foot storage facility in Utah to hold all your vital information.

A language caution for the occasional use of curse words.
When they kick in your door in the middle of the night and murder you over flowers, I'd say we're already there.
I strongly suggest a movie called “The Lives of Others” for a good look at life under the Stasi.
A wonderful film.
He' s a brilliant writer and can see the handwriting on the wall.
When America has it's second revolution, what will happen in the rest of the world?
Oh man, there's a bad moon on the rise.
Americans will vote for freedom. As in free cell phones. /sarc
As Ben said, “A republic. If you can keep it.”
Thanks for posting. This article brought into focus many things I’ve been thinking about lately.
"woodchipper maw" -- someone owes me a keyboard. i was brushing my teeth while reading this. (I never like to do just one thing at a time.)
Cleanup in aisle four. Bring a bucket.
Thanks for the warning. I shall pass. There are "curse words" (hell, damn, which to me are not offensive) and then there's vulgarity (most of the other four-letter words) and I choose to avoid that kind of language.
There is an old study (don't know when or the name) by the CIA about taking out an organization by doing this very thing. The gist is that in any organization there are key people that keep the system going. These vital persons just seem to make things happen that allow the organization to function, yet are relatively small in number, something on the order of 5% of the entire group. A secretary here, a manager there, a lead person over there, but not necessarily, nor usually the head person.
When these persons are neutralized, the organization grinds to a lethargic crawl or stops producing altogether.
IMO, the left is far more vulnerable to this then the right in America. FWIW.
