Muslim Leaders Slam 9/11 Museum's Unflattering Portrayal of Al Qaeda as "Deeply Offensive"
Pundit Press ^ | 4/23/14 | Aurelius

Posted on 04/23/2014 10:29:07 AM PDT by therightliveswithus

The National September 11 Memorial Museum will be showing a film called “The Rise of Al Qaeda” when it opens next month. The film tries to explain the roots of the terrible attacks and why radical Islamists killed so many people that terrible day.

In an attempt to get feedback from the Muslim community on the film, which portrays Al Qaeda as radical Islamists who were on a jihad against the United States, the museum showed “The Rise of Al Qaeda” to an “interfaith advisory group of clergy members.” This group included Muslim leaders.

After seeing the short film, which only lasts seven minutes, the panel universally lambasted it. At the heart of their criticisms were the portrayal of Al Qaeda as radical Islamists who believed their interpretation of their religion led them to kill civilians.

“The screening of this film in its present state would greatly offend our local Muslim believers as well as any foreign Muslim visitor to the museum,” wrote Sheikh Mostafa Elazabawy, the imam of Masjid Manhattan.

He continued, “Unsophisticated visitors who do not understand the difference between Al Qaeda and Muslims may come away with a prejudiced view of Islam, leading to antagonism and even confrontation toward Muslim believers near the site.”

At the heart of their criticisms were the portrayal of Al Qaeda as radical Islamists who believed their interpretation of their religion led them to kill civilians.

Right. Nothing in their holy books call for violence. /s

The Koran:

Sura (2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution of Muslims is worse than slaughter of non-believers...and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah."

Sura (4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward."

Sura (4:76) - "Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…"

Sura (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

Sura (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

Sura (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah"

Sura (9:14) - "Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace..."

Sura (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, even if they are of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

Sura (9:123) - "O you who believe! Fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness."

Sura (47:4) - "So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make them prisoners,"

Sura (61:4) - "Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way"

From the Hadith:

Muslim (1:33) - the Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah

Bukhari (8:387) - Allah's Apostle said, “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah’”

Tabari 7:97 The morning after the murder of Ashraf, the Prophet declared, "Kill any Jew who falls under your power."

Ibn Ishaq: 327 - “Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.’”

Ibn Ishaq: 992 - "Fight everyone in the way of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah."

I must have missed where Muslims around the world openly condemned the terrorists and supported America in the days, weeks, months and years after 9/11.

The infidel is forever too unsophisticated to understand the most explicit distinction between Islamic terrorist would-be world conquerers and Muslims who wish to live in peace with people of all creeds and abide by their host countries’ laws.

That’s probably because the distinction depends on the situation far more often than it does on the person.

I found this a little disturbing:

After seeing the short film, which only lasts seven minutes, the panel universally lambasted it.

This was "an interfaith" panel (so the story says in the preceding paragraph), which I take to mean there were non-Muslims on it. The non-Muslims were offended too? Really? I think we may be dealing with even worse-than-usual sloppy reportage here. That, or the members of the other faiths were selected by virtue of being very weak in their faiths and fell to Muslim group-think. The outcome of this "panel discussion" was pre-ordained.

“Unsophisticated visitors who do not understand the difference between Al Qaeda and Muslims may come away with a prejudiced view of Islam, leading to antagonism and even confrontation toward Muslim believers near the site.”

He's right that the above dichotomy is unsophisticated. It's a little more nuanced than that.

There are three types of Muslims.

1) Terrorists, like al Qaeda, Boko Haram, and other groups, who will murder and/or perform acts of intimidation against the infidel when given the chance. They are more numerous than we probably realize.

2) Enablers who might not perform the hideous acts themselves but will provide funding, sanctuary, and cheer on the actions. Any Muslim who will not loudly condemn the terrorists falls into this group and represents the largest majority of Muslims. Terrorist groups could not easily exist if these Muslims would cooperate with law enforcement and/or military authorities to rid the world of this plague. The critics of the exhibit fall into this group.

3) Decent Muslims whose conscience have not yet been suppressed by the teachings of Islam and still recognize that sin, even if supposedly in the pursuit of religious objectives, is wrong. This small, small minority is willing to speak out against the atrocities.

I am certain of one thing. The "corrected" display will be far further from the truth than the current one.

Every “moderate” Muslim is a potential terrorist. The belief in Islam is like a tank of gasoline. It looks innocuous, until it meets the fire. For a “moderate” Muslim to become a murderous jihadist, all it takes is a spark of faith.

It is time to put an end to the charade of “moderate Islam.” There is no such thing as moderate Muslim. Muslims are either jihadists or dormant jihadists – moderate, they are not.

Iran Executing a Victim of Attempted Rape?

Posted By Majid Rafizadeh On April 24, 2014 @ 12:36 am In Daily Mailer,FrontPage | No Comments

A Few days ago, the United Nations and various international human rights groups joined a growing call for the Islamic Republic of Iran to halt the execution of a woman scheduled for Monday.

Iran’s court has sentenced Reyhaneh Jabbari to death for the 2007 killing of Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, who was a former employee of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security.

According to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights Jabbari was acting in self-defense against Sarbandi, who attempted to rape her, and she never received a fair trial and due legal process.

According to testimony of “reliable sources” and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Sarbandi hired the 19-year-old Jabbari, an interior designer, to work in his office. While Sarbandi was attempting to sexually harass and rape Jabbari, a struggle began, and she stabbed him.

Therefore, Jabbari was sentenced to death for her action under the Islamic judiciary system of Iran. Why would a young professional woman be executed for defending herself against unwelcome actions from her superior, a sexual abuser?

The profound irony, and the peak of the Islamic Republic’s hypocrisy, became clear this week in a speech marking Women’s Day, when Iranian president Hassan Rouhani made international headlines by condemning any form of sexual discrimination and advocating for equal opportunities and rights for women.

According to Fars News, while speaking at the National Forum on Women Shaping Economy and Culture in Tehran Rouhani pointed out, “We will not accept the culture of sexual discrimination.”

The liberal and mainstream media took these remarks as promoting and projecting a democratic and humane image of the Iranian president.

According to the 104-page UN report and UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmed Shaheed, the number of executions of women and the number of prisoners on death row has increased under President Rouhani’s rule.

Beyond these sweet remarks, President Rouhani did not even scratch the surface of women’s rights regarding the actual day-to-day discrimination that women face in the Islamic Republic. He solely commented on investing in electronic technology and marketing to lay the ground for women’s scientific progress.

In other words, there was no tangible, legitimate, or nuanced explanation about how to address the institutionalized discrimination against women or how secure equality for the gender.

For example, he did not draw on practical solutions or indications of the ongoing gender inequality in terms of marriage and divorce, citizenship rights, nationality, international travel, employment, inheritance, child custody, among others.

Many Iranian women activists who live in the Islamic Republic, and several of those campaigners whom I have interviewed, shed light on different reality for women rights under Rouhani’s presidency.

Many women voted for Rouhani due to his promises for social freedom, gender equality, and for being a moderate candidate. Nevertheless, as Sima, an Iranian teacher and women’s rights activist who lives west of Tehran in the city of Karaj stated, “President Rouhani has been successful in making a nuclear deal and resolving some of the tension regarding nuclear issues, but the reality is that women’s conditions have not changed. The conditions are still the same as those of former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s era.”

In mid-2013, based on a ruling passed by the constitutional body in the Islamic Republic, women are banned to run in presidential elections. According to a recent University policy, women are secluded from entering by almost 78 percent. These are only few examples of recent laws being passed.
