That is the case for Ukraine. And don’t underestimate a damage made for American interests by corrupt ‘pro-American’ regimes. Look at it long-term.

In the long term, we are better off with a Ukraine that is not a province of Russia, just as we are better off with a Kuwait that is not a province of Iraq.

First of all you are talking about mid-term, not long-term benefits and second it only looks good until someone in Russia and China decides that it is a good idea to bring missiles back to Cuba and another one in Mexico decides than American influence is toxic and he wants economic ties to China and Russia and also troops from these nations ‘to enforce Mexican souvereignity’. Then one may decide that Southwest doesn’t belong to the United States and the rest of UN would cite for Kosovo as a precedent.

We already have missile subs off the Russian and Chinese coasts if they decide to initiate a nuclear attack. If they put up missiles in Cuba, we will simply put up ABM systems opposite those missiles. As to Russian and Chinese troops in Mexico, they're basically marooned. During WWII, we had a real base in the Philippines, but it collapsed after less than 6 months of Japanese attacks. It was unable to undertake any offensive operations against the Japanese forces fanning out across the Far East and basically hunkered down until it ran out of supplies. That would be the situation of any Russian or Chinese forces located in Mexico.

The reason we have bases in a hundred or more countries overseas is because everyone knows the US is not in the business of annexing the territory of foreign countries. Mexico is unlikely to allow significant numbers of Chinese or Russian troops in Mexico because (1) US has not been a threat to Mexico's territorial integrity for 160 years and (2) both China and Russia are known for being land-hungry and not particularly worried about legal niceties when it comes to annexing foreign lands after their troops have been invited in. The US has a ton of foreign military bases not because it's imperialistic, but because it's not imperialistic. Russian and China can never get that kind of cooperation from foreign governments because they are perceived as empire-builders.

As to the Kosovo "precedent", it's only a precedent for Yugoslavia. It's certainly not a precedent for Russia, which is a multinational empire with literally dozens of restless nationalities.

I’m a proper conservative. I wouldn’t associate with them, or with a brain dead Putinista groupie.

I don’t rely upon Russian sources. Prove where I use Russian sources.

I have stated from The American Spectator, NYT and BBC. Not from RT or Russia Today on the Ukraine issue.

The American Spectator, the NYT, BBC - I had no idea they were Russian sources on the Ukraine issue, LOL.

Epic Fail, RINO.
