President George W. Bush left the White House as one of the most disliked presidents in our nations history. With approval ratings struggling to hit 30 percent, he was an albatross hanging over fellow Republican John McCain during the 2008 presidential election. Even four years later, as President Obama ran for re-election, the majority of voters thought Bush was more responsible for economic problems in the United States than Obama.
But over the past year, polling data has begun to suggest that Bush is no longer quite the liability he once was for the GOP, and that most Americans no longer see the current economy as something Obama inherited.
Since April, Bushs favorable rating has averaged 49.3 percent. His unfavorable rating has averaged 46.3 percent. More Americans now like Bush than dislike him. Of course, 49.3 percent is far lower than Jimmy Carters 58 percent favorability rating, recorded in April 2013, but Bush has seen a moderate improvement over the past four years. In his last weeks in office, Bushs favorable rating averaged just 37.3 percent; his unfavorable rating averaged 57.8 percent.
Moreover, the percentage who believe that Obama inherited the nations current economic conditions has dipped below 50 percent for the first time.

Dude, Bush was SIX years ago!!!
If the Blame Bush era is ending...it’s Bush’s fault.
For real progressives, like my in-laws, blaming Bush will never end. One of them said to me last year, “at least Democrats have hearts.” I think he’s the one who treated his sister-in-law’s medicine cabinet like a Pez dispenser, but at least his politics are superior to mine.
Most people can't remember how bad things were under Jimma Carta.
Any discussion of the shortcomings of Obama with the liberals I encounter is immediately diverted to Bush and his war crimes and ruination of the economy that our brave young President Obama has struggled valiantly to undo.
And if the press treated the current POS the same as it did Bush, obammy's approval rating would be in the single digits.
Good point. Obama gets very favorable media coverage.
I’ve heard somebody say that the media is in bed with Obama, they trade talking points and issues back and forth, so as to push the most favorable narrative for Obama.
We should have an independent press, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this is true. \
Where would Obama be in the polls, if the media were not carrying his water for him?????
Remember, these low polls numbers for Obama are in spite of the boost he gets from favorable media coverage.
They should have polled only people who were old enough to vote in 1976 when asking them to evaluate Carter. Those younger only know what they were told in school or by their parents.
I was in high school in the late 70s and I clearly remember double digit unemployment and double digit inflation. Life under Carter sucked.
“he was an albatross hanging over fellow Republican John McCain during the 2008 presidential election.”
The ONLY albatross hanging on McCain is McCain, THE MAVERICK.
By the way has anyone in the commie media called this ass a Maverick lately?
There’s no end to blaming Bush. It has become a liberal sacrament, not on the level yet with fetal blood sacrifice, but they probably utter “Bush’s fault” even in that ceremony.
Maybe "in high school by the time Carter left office" would be a better cut-off point.
Hey thanks for the laugh. I needed it.
Would those be the same "progressives" whose trust funds are chock full of tax free municipal bonds and Halliburton and Smith & Wesson shares?
That means it’s time for Jeb??
Jeb or Hillary.
They don't care which.
