The reason Patrick Fitzgerald pulled the trigger so promptly on Blago was to avoid catching Rahm Emmanuel, Obama, Jesse Jackson Jr., etc., in the Senate replacement scam. In short, Blago was the sacrificial lamb in this sordid affair. Half of Chicago politicians could have been prosecuted IMHO.
In Illinois, we consider a politician "honest" if, after he has been bought off, remains bought off.
