What Would A Republican Congress Do?

There are six months to go before the mid-term elections. Things are looking relatively good for the GOP. Obama’s poll numbers continue in the low 40′s. Generic ballots are moving in the Republicans direction. Obamacare continues to be unpopular and a major problem for Democrats. Even a supposedly good jobs report with a 6.3% unemployment rate has been offset by the government removing 800,000 people from the workforce and first quarter growth rate of 0.1%. All the polling for Obama and the Democrats indicate they are in a worse position heading into the 2014 midterms than they were heading into the 2010 midterms. Nate Silver gives the GOP a 60% chance to capture the Senate. The House is untouchable.

What caused you to excerpt your own blog, Leo?
Why can’t you post the whole thing?

You'll get no hit from me Leo. Post the whole thing or don't bother.

Imagine what the forum would look like if every FReeper that has a blog posted it here.

Well, whatever it is they do, let's hope they don't excerpt it for hits.

What Would A Republican Congress Do?

Run into a corner and hide?
Scheme over even more ways to enrich themselves before the collapse comes?
Have multiple orgasms over the fact that now THEY get to drive the truck of Big Government?

Continue to take the nation down the road to disaster. Bigger and more intrusive government.

Your title doesn't correspond to your missive. A more correct title would be "What Could A Republican Congress Do?"

Because given the majority of Republicans in the Senate, they would do none of what you suggest, except perhaps the pipeline.

The same thing they did from 2003 to 2007.

Spend our money.

Try to out-do the democrats.

Especially if the current leadership in both houses remains in place. If that happens -- if there is not a change in leadership in the House and Senate -- without a large number of energetic new members who are conservative and who are loyal to Constitutional principles and traditional American values, although the march to Socialism may be slowed a bit not much else is likely to change.

It is clear to me that no matter what else might occur in this mid-term election that the fix is in for the lame duck Congress after the election:

The WILL pass immigration reform legislation.

The only way to stop it that I see is to get Boehner out of the Speaker of the House chair before that happens. There are also enough Rino senators to make that easily happen in the out-going Senate.

We already know the answer from recent history, because the leadership is democrat lite. What I want to see again, I hope in my lifetime, is a Conservative Congress could do!

Actually, even if the GOP wins an overwhelming victory in November this year, even winning back to the US Senate, there is still very little they will be able to accomplish for at least the next two years afterwards. The Republicans could pass bill after bill to repeal Obamacare, every day of the week, and BHO will simply whip out his veto pen. You need a 2/3 vote to override a presidential veto.

The only hope of ever repealing Obamacare is elected a GOP POTUS and Congress dedicated to making that happen.
