Inappropriate and very tacky. Besides the race baiting this ‘teacher’ is doing, he commits an even worse Cardinal Sin, by taking the focus away from the graduating students, and directing attention to himself. Very selfish. Anyone in my family would have been furious, and these are Democrats, not Tea Party like me.

Zimmerman was a person, as the writer said, of mixed-racial ancestry. In the Spanish-speaking Caribbean and Central America, a person with his proportions of racial mixing would have been denominated castizo on his baptismal certificate, which last certified each person's social place for life, officially and finally. (But Roberta Fernandez at the University of Houston, who teaches courses in Spanish that tell students that American culture is existentially racist, also tells them that Hispanic culture, and especially Chicano-studies culture <snort!>, is free of such taints and moral burdens. He had many more ways to stay alive. In fact, he had infinitely many ways to stay alive. TM had a right to stand, walk, jump, or run in rain or in dry weather, in daytime or at night, in any public or semi-public area. He had no duty to stop and talk to GZ, and GZ had no right to force TM to do anything. It's still a largely free country. Only a police officer could order TM around.
But out of that infinity of paths TM picked the only way to get killed - he attempted to murder an armed man. Probably TM was intoxicated, or already suffering from brain damage. Whatever his reason was, he chose poorly.

Yep - too bad there wasn't a "White-Hispanic" teacher to pose as Zimmermann. Of course, he would have been fired.
I see the teacher got the hoodie and the Skittles, but neglected the 9 mm hole...
Since it has been a while since this happened, maybe my memory is not that sharp, but was the COMPLETE AUDIO of that phone call played in the COURTROOM ?
