That wouldn't have worked. He hated and feared women; being around women was pure agony for him. So he fantasized about women constantly, hated them for never looking at him and always going out with other guys, and avoided them as much as possible.
This was all in his manifesto (fascinating read). To borrow from The Doors, his brain was squirming like a toad.

Where can I find the manifesto? I would like to read it as well, but all the copies seem to have been scrubbed from online.

It is a pdf file, but not quite searchable. If you search a specific phrase, it will show an excerpt containing the phrase, but it won’t jump to that section in the document. Perhaps it would be searchable if it were downloaded... but I don’t want that on my computer, so did not try it.
What strikes me is that this kid grew up very privileged, never lacked for anything, seemed to have a close family, etc., but was also very disturbed from the start. That just shows that mental illness comes from within.
I tried to watch his last video, but could not. He had a melodramatic method of speaking, like an overacted B movie, that I find unbearable after a few seconds.

I wouldn't worry about the state of the union based on their attempts to figure him out. Surely, this crime is going to make them assess their own judgment about people they meet, date or have sex with -- one hopes they will be more careful to mind that inner voice that says, "Don't go out with this one, even though his [hair/clothes/car/facial features] are attractive."
