Obama Makes His Biennial Election Year Visit to Afghanistan
Conservative Spotlight ^ | May 26, 2014 | Fred Dardick

Birds flying south remind anyone looking up that winter is coming. So it is with President Obama as he heads to Afghanistan for a weekend trip – anyone seeing Air Force One flying east to the embattled mountain nation must know that elections are coming.

As Obama did in May 2012 and May 2010, his last two Afghan trips to visit the troops he sent to a country that despises all that America stands for, our president took the opportunity to position himself as a decisive and victorious Commander in Chief.

In a meeting with U.S. forces Obama claimed “Al Qaeda is on its heels”, but immediately followed it with the qualification “in this part of the world”, which sums up his entire presidency of half-truths and willful ignorance. Violent Islamists are on the march in Nigeria, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, Sudan, China, India, Yemen, Iran, Iraq and elsewhere, but since they don’t have Al Qaeda stamped to their forehead, they must be all right.

Putting on his best Nixon impersonation, and seeking to distance himself from his part in escalating the conflict, Obama told the troops “America’s war in Afghanistan will come to a responsible end.” But it wasn’t America who sent those soldiers to fight and die in the Afghan mountains, it was President Obama.

Rather than maintain a limited military presence in Afghanistan, as Bush did while he was Commander in Chief, Obama went all in with the goal of transforming a nation ruled by war lords strait out of the Middle Ages. Since modern Islam doesn’t recognize international borders, Muslims hankering for jihad are simply waiting for the U.S. to complete its withdrawal by the end of the year before they inevitably pour into Afghanistan and turn it into the next blood-soaked Syria.

Of course no Obama visit would be complete without a spectacular show of incompetence by his administration, which lived up to the hype when the White House released the identity of the CIA’s top officer in Kabul to reporters. So far no word from Valerie Plame on whether or not the unintentional leak was made to discredit her husband.

Can someone photoshop the now-iconic photo of W with the turkey and put obozo’s face on the turkey?

The military genuinely loved W and he genuinely loved them (funny how that works).

bozo sees them as a photo-op only. I am 100% sure the troops were NOT happy to see the pretender in chief who despises them so.

Obama went to Afghanistan for two reasons: avoid a Memorial Day disaster at Arlington Cemetery reminding folks of his VA foulups and to begin the proclamations of surrender in Afghanistan which he will craft as a great accomplishment.

PBS offered an interesting insight last night. Our local PBS station broadcast the annual concert at Union Station. The theme this year was the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I, approrpiate with the National WWI Memorial standing behind the large crowd. But, they also honored the fallen (it is Memorial Day, not Veterans Day) warriors from the Kansas City area and ended with their signature 1812 overture complete with cannon from Harry Truman’s National Guard artillery battery. Very Nice.

After that program, the local station broadcast the Washington D. C. version with Colin Powell and Gary Sinese. The theme there was very different. It was a “Bring the Troops Home” extravaganza with troops aligned on stage to help proclaim the magnificent efforts of Our Dear Leader to undo all of the screwups of his predecessor. There was a baseball game over on ESPN, so I didn’t see what happened after the opening scene. Quite the political theater.

May I be even more cynical? This week, Obama's going to give a speech at the West Point graduation. That will involve handing out diplomas and shaking hands with, in crisp military style, all of those grads.

He made a big deal of shaking everyone's hands at the army base. Was Obama practicing to see if he was "up to speed" for the graduation?

My bad.

Today is Memorial Day and there is no way to take attention off our veterans and the vermin in DC that have allowed the VA scandal.
