UPDATE: The gesture didnt elicit a positive reaction from the Ohio Republican.
Updated 8:20 a.m. May 28 | President Barack Obama wont act to reduce deportations on his own until the end of the summer giving Speaker John A. Boehner one more chance to vote on an immigration overhaul.
Two administration officials confirmed that the president has directed Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to hold off on releasing the results of his review of immigration policy in the meantime.
The hope in the White House is that once Republican primary season largely wraps up on June 10, Boehner will have the political space to get something done.
UPDATE: The gesture didnt elicit a positive reaction from the Ohio Republican.
Enforcing the law as written isnt a concession it is the Presidents solemn responsibility, said Boehner spokesman Michael Steel. Now isnt the time to be playing politics with immigration enforcement or our national security.
A White House official said the presidents priority is enacting a law.
The presidents priority is to enact a permanent solution for people currently living in the shadows and that can only come with immigration reform, a White House official said. Legislation should also continue to strengthen our border security, modernize the legal immigration system, and hold employers accountable. He believes theres a window for the House to get immigration reform done this summer, and he asked the Secretary to continue working on his review until that window has passed. Theres a bipartisan consensus. Its time for them to act and the President didnt want the discussion of the Secretarys review to interfere with the possibility of action in the House.
A DHS official sent this statement:
While the review is ongoing, the President believes there is an opportunity for Congressional action this summer and has asked Secretary Johnson to hold on releasing any results from his review while this window for Congressional action remains open. Secretary Johnson continues to conduct the review, including meeting with stakeholders and his workforce to inform any final decisions.
Boehner has repeatedly said that nothing will happen on immigration unless the president convinces his members that he will enforce the law.
Separately, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., last week set a deadline of the August recess for passing immigration legislation, and offered to make 2017 the effective date so that Republicans could not use Obamas enforcement of the law as an excuse not to pass it.
The overall strategy for the Democrats amounts to this give Boehner every possibility to act and ensure Republicans take the full blame if he doesnt.
Control the freaking border. Period.
Please don't blame me for blocking 'comprehensive immigration reform', Brer Fox.
And, enforce EXISTING all US Border Laws.
2014 looms and vote-crazed Dems are getting nervous---working voter scams 24/7.....fraudulently registering illegal aliens to vote all over the place. Here's just one way tricky Dems work the enrollment/voter scam:
OBAMACARE IS ALSO A VOTER REGISTRATION WEB SITE: O/Care's Oregon state exchange "accidentally" enrolled 4000 illegals (that we know of). In one state alone, vote-crazed Dems racked up 4000 votes (that we know of) to help them survive looming 2014 midterms). This was no accident.
Unsuspecting Obamacare enrollees are being plugged into Democrat voter rolls. Local couple upset after receiving pre-marked voter registration card from "Covered California" (Cali O/Care)
10news | 03-29-2014 | Preston Phillips / FR Posted by Kevin in California
A local couple called 10News concerned after they received an envelope from the state's Obamacare website, Covered California. Inside was a letter discussing voter registration and a registration card pre-marked with an "x" in the box next to Democratic Party.
BOOKMARK THIS Each state's Secretary of State is required to check into all cases of reported voter fraud. Course a Dem won't. But many states have Repub Secy's of State. They should be notified about illegals registering via O/Care.....and fraudulently plugged into Democrat voter rolls.
STRATEGY Copy all SoS complaints to the FBI.
TALKING POINTS----FREEPER KENNY BUNK POSTED: the major vote fraud chicanery is done with absentees and computers. Dead people are actually absent. Virtual people invented by computer programs are absent, too. Virtual voters are often generated from the dead, who are presumed to have multi-generational families. These techniques grew up with computers.
CALIFORNIA LEADS THE VOTER FRAUD PARADE The pioneers were the Sanchez Sisters in Orange county, CA. Loretta's team just plain invented about 7500 voters. They also worked hard to illegally register aliens, legal and illegal, felons. The tech has matured to the point where CA is reputed to have half-a-million fraudulent votes available. It has also been reported that about 75 seats in the CA legislature were filled by fraudulent election tactics.
Judges of Elections know the tricks. 75 voters registered at a house that doesn't exist on a non-existent street; another 50 registered at an address that is a gas station ... or an empty lot.
Last time I checked the Constitution, the President's priority was enforcing the law...
I don’t think that Boehner will do anything, as some of Obama’s henchmen have suggested that he will act unilaterally. And that may be an election disaster for the Democrats if he does.
He gives Boehner one more chance or what? Do we no longer have a legislature with two chambers? Is Congress now the equivalent of the House of Lords or Roman Senate with no real power? Can the President enact laws without going through the legislature?
Don’t answer those questions, I already know the answer. And a large chunk of America doesn’t care.
Law enforcement is a constitutional duty of the President. Legislative initiative is a second century trend due to congressional weakness.
He can hardly be favored with the later, if he won’t perform the former.
I live near the border in San Diego. Illegals are not living in the shadows; they crowd the supermarkets and other stores. Men hang out on corners waiting for day work. They are everywhere, Spanish is heard everywhere, and they greatly outnumber Americans. Oh yes, some of them are undoubtedly here legally.
I guess Obama "forgot" that the Founders (who lived under tyranny) constructed our govt to smack down tyranny whenever it raised its ugly head. The Founders' attention to this detail actually worked.

It worked. And somehow, the man who is the alleged expert on the Constitution did not perceive that the mechanism of the bicameral Congress and the three branches of government would impede reckless agendas. It worked.
Mr. Obama seems unable to grasp the fact that, as mentioned in Federalist 45 by James Madison, [t]he powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.
The president seems frustrated that he isnt getting his way. In an article in the Washington Times, President Obama is taking a swipe at the Founding Fathers, blaming his inability to move his agenda on the 'disadvantage' of having each state represented equally in the Senate.
Progressives would like nothing more than a giant merger of all (Obama's 57) states and national popular voting. Disappointed and finger-pointing once again, Mr. Obama blames our form of government for not allowing his plans to be implemented. Curiously, Mr. Obama does not point to Harry Reid and his antics in the Senate.(Excerpt) Read more at americanthinker.com ...
Sobs Boehner needs to grow a pair and start preparing articles of impeachment for the times Obammy has changed or created laws that he does not have the ability to.
Do your frilling job Boehner.
I’d like to hear Speaker Boehner say that HE is giving the President “one mmore chance” to:
(1) approve the XL pipeline, which would add 100,000 good high-paying jobs to our economy and which would also lower every American’s cost of gasoline.
(2) build strong multi-layered chain-link fences on our borders, using AMERICAN materials and AMERICAN labor, to show that the President is not deliberately trying to keep AMERICAN unemployment rates high simply to help Democrats “win” elections.
(3) immediately grant every Veteran a “medical credit card” that the veterans can use to obtain treatment from any doctor and any hospital they choose at government expense — just like our “honorable” Congressmen do. And shut the VA down.
Did he draw a line in the sand with his scepter? Obama simply doesn't have the cojones to further enrage the TEA party two months before an election. This is just another of the Obama strategy: "Speak loudly, and carry a little stick."
That’s the problem. Barry does not consult the Constitution.
John, you are going to get called back to the white house like you were on the 25th of February — Now “give the Devil his due.”
