Where the heck did that “bears are gentle and friendly” troll of a couple of weeks ago go, anyway? BTT
To: skeptoid
Sad she had to learn about bears the hard way.

UM, what the heck happened to this woman’s husband, who was running with her?
I would really think if you are running in a wilderness area, or heck anywhere, that you all should stick together.

Yeah, I noted that when she was bleeding and walking on the road, she said she was thinking of her four year old and that he was the only thing she wanted to live for. I am assuming that she realized that her mate had left her behind and didn’t look back to check on her every once in a while.

But some bears like a challenge.

Apparently that was her husband’s strategy.

“I don’t have to outrun the bear,” he said, snugging his shoelace tight and standing up.
“I just have to outrun you.”

That is the best way to survive a grizzly/brown bear attack is play dead. But with black bears you are supposed to run at them with your arms raised, screaming to appear larger than you are.

The answer is to jog with slowpokes....I knew quite a few USAF people who were at Elmendorf. All the ones I ever knew, said they never went hiking alone, and everyone one of them carried no less than a .44 magnum, just because of the bears.

Not Bear fans I guess, did they like the Browns any better?

Not Bear fans I guess, did they like the Browns any better? What a coincidence. One of the guys who said they packed .44s or rifles, told me, that just for the heck of it, he tried out for the Cleveland Browns one day. He said he lasted 3 hours. He said the hitting was unlike anything he ever experienced in college. I like to watch football, but I think anyone who plays the game, must have a screw loose.
