Obama Says That Everyone in the Obama Bubble Agreed with His Prisoner Swap Decision
Political Kryptonite ^ | June 8, 2014 | Fred Dardick

Posted on 06/08/2014 9:43:13 AM PDT by FredDardick

In an interview with NBC News Obama reiterated the now popular talking point that everyone in government was “unanimous” in their support for the release of five mass murdering terrorists for one American deserter. Obama told NBC News, “I make no apologies for it. It was a unanimous decision among my principals in my government.”

Good for him. So now we’re supposed to be impressed that all of the Obama cheerleaders in the West Wing jumped on board with the dumbest prisoner exchange in American history?

Is there any real question as to why Obama didn’t give Congress prior notice of the prisoner swap? It had nothing to do with putting Bowe Bergdhal’s life in danger or fear of the exchange leaking to the press. He knew darn well that there would be tremendous bipartisan opposition to his plan of letting five of the most dangerous criminals on the planet go in exchange for a deserter at best (whether Bergdhal is a traitor as well remains to be seen).

It would also kill the talking point that the US government was “unanimous” with his decision. Instead Obama makes the prisoner swap and puts out the information that Congress had been consulted on the Bergdhal exchange for “some time”, a bogus claim that got debunked in record time. When that falsehood failed the administration moved on to the Bergdhal’s health was in danger so it had to be done quickly routine, because what difference, at this point, does another lie make?

When you are relying on feedback from Susan “Sunday Show Liar” Rice, Valerie “Chicago Slumlord” Jarrett and Samantha “Send US Troops to Israel” Power, you really shouldn’t be surprised when things work out badly.

That’s why Congress is supposed to play the role of “advice and consent” to the executive branch. This way the President can get counsel from outside his bubble of yes-men and “those mom-jeans don’t look bad on you at all” sycophants, so hopefully he doesn’t make unbelievably stupid decisions.

But what else would you expect from a President who has a nasty habit of skipping his daily intelligence briefings and likes to play check-the-box when it comes to running the federal government?

So ‘everybody does it” is an acceptable excuse?
Isn’t it odd that though a very large number of people believed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, including both political sides of Congress. that it is all still Bush’s fault and a “war crime”?

Since Obama acknowledges that he is governing the US by decisions made only by his small inner circle, isn't he guilty of something? They're behaving as an unelected shadow government beyond the reach of the legislative and judiciary branches of gov.

The 'pubs in the HOR and the Senate should set up a committee and use it as a campaign issue. (sarcasm)

Good observation - there were many people on both sides of the aisle and both sides of the Atlantic and Pacific who thought Sadam H. had weapons of mass destruction. In actuality, he did have chemical warfare weapons which he used against the Kurds. Some folks erroneously think that only nuclear weapons are weapons of mass destruction.

Second: The fact that Obama’s staff all agreed unanimously with their great ‘master’ does not say much for O’s ability to gather good advisors around him.

Obama told NBC News, “I make no apologies for it. It was a unanimous decision among my principals in my government.”

Well first, only one person is responsible for and makes a decision. All the rest, "principals" or lawn boys are merely advisors.

Second, that Moslem, illegal-alien, Usurper damn well better apologize...unless, of course, his objective was to release Moslem terrorists and gain a traitor/terrorist.

Viewed in that fashion, this was another big win for the Kenyan in the White House. All it cost him was a few words and not one missed round of golf.

Kimberly Strassel has an article in the WSJ about the Obama advisors who have been setting his foreign policy and what a bunch of light weights that they are. One of them was his former driver.

From the Kimberly Strassel article in the WSj - These are the “everybody” that agreed:
President Obama’s first national security adviser, former Marine General and NATO Commander Jim Jones, left after only two years following clashes with Mr. Obama’s inner circle.

He was replaced by Democratic political operative and former Fannie Mae lobbyist Tom Donilon. Mr. Donilon joined Ben Rhodes, the Obama campaign speechwriter, who in 2009 had been elevated to deputy national security adviser for strategic communications. Also present was Tommy Vietor, whose entire career prior to NSC spokesman was as an Obama spinmeister—as a press aide in the 2004 Senate run, and campaign flack for the 2008 Iowa caucuses, and assistant White House press secretary. In fairness, his credentials also included getting caught on camera in 2010 pounding beers, shirtless, at a Georgetown bar. America’s foreign-policy experts at work.

another, even greater, sign of a good leader is that s/he selects good advisors

and then there’s the current Occupancy in the WH

There is NO doubt that Saddam had WMD.

Tons of yellow-cake in various forms, poison gasses and the delivery systems made him beyond dangerous.

Let's not forget the ultra long range artillery system that the Canadian was building.

It wasn't to delivery conventional weapons.

If Obama's people all agreed with 'the dumbest prisoner exchange' in our history - that alone tells us something scary...

I suspect Obama felt this bizarre choice was better than the alternative. An unnamed alternative we don't know and might never discover... But his people/cheerleaders wouldn't know about that - so what's their excuse?

And that is the problem. He has surrounded himself now with yes men, yes women and yes what evers. A President should always be given the opposing point of view. In fact one of his people should have disagreed just so he could have become aware of the potential down sides to the trade. Apparently no one even told him.

Here's a rule which should apply to all Obama staffers.

Before giving advice on a foreign matter, they must first identify the country on a map of the globe, with all names redacted from said map. If they can't identify the country, name it's capitol, it's monetary system, principal exports and imports, and religious distribution, they should be barred from speaking whatsoever.
