Rick Scott Signs In-State Tuition Bill for Undocumented Students
Broward-Palm Beach ^ | Jun. 9 2014 | Chris Joseph

On Monday, Gov. Rick Scott signed the DREAM Act bill into law, which will allow in-state tuition for the children of illegal immigrants in Florida. According to the bill, undocumented immigrants must meet a certain number of conditions to qualify that include attending a secondary school for at least three straight years before graduating from a Florida high school. After graduating high school, the law gives the student 24 months to apply to a college.

In a news release sent out by Scott on Monday morning, the governor calls giving access to higher learning to all Floridians one of his top priorities.

"Signing this historic legislation today will keep tuition low, and allow all students who grew up in Florida to have the same access to affordable higher education," Scott says in the statement. "With this legislation, higher education became more affordable and more accessible to all Floridians."

House Speaker Will Weatherford also chimed in saying via the news release, "The dreams of many individuals looking to further their education are now within reach. I thank Governor Scott for giving all of Florida's children a chance to succeed. This is a proud and historic moment for Florida."

Of course, not all are fans of this move by the governor.

A group calling itself Floridians for Immigration Enforcement tired to derail the bill back in March, saying that the law would provide "more benefits for illegal aliens while immigration laws are still so blatantly not enforced."

Just listened to a news report. There was a story about the house possibly voting for an immigration bill. The # that was used was 11 Million here illegally.

That was the number that was being used in the late 1990’s.

The actual # is more likely 30 - 40 million illegals. The ruling class knows not what it is about to do...

There is no public support for amnesty, regardless of party. Yet they’re “hell bent” for it. And then they expect us to vote for them?????

Gee whiz, another awesome “not a politician” tea party savior turns out to be a lousy elected official.

Why am I not surprised?

Graham, Chiles, Jebbie, Crist, Scott: which is the worst, or is it a five-way tie? The worst maybe are the FL voters perhaps, five strikes and they are out.

Oh, they clearly know. The evil ruling class wants to destroy the middle class.

There is likely 50-60M illegal third world scum here. They will out breed us and most certainly turn our Republic into a third world sewer by 2050; likely Spainish speaking by 2100.

No country can survive open borders and a bi-lingual populace of the size that will be here.

Every single politician that supports open Amnesty is willingly out to utterly destroy our Republic as founded.

I cannot write what I believe would be proper justice to such slimy politicians. Let's just say it would make Vlad the Impaler look like a wimp.

It should have been easier than ever to put the Democrats away but instead of opposing them they joined them! The way they’re going I think the Republicans may collapse before 2016.

“Are you being critical on the Tea Party?”

“Are you not or ever have been a member of the Communist Party?”

“Answer ME now!!!”

I’m only joking, BB! I’m reenacting the ramblings of a mental midget from last week.

What a desperate reelection ploy by Scott.

What really gets me the most is the libs raising hell about student loans.

Well, ever since the government got into the business of paying universities the money on the backs of students, these same idiots turn around and support the very foundation that enslaved them.

Meh.

I'm a Florida Voter, Rick Scott, and this decision (paid for with lavish GOPe Chamber of Commerce bribery) will cost you DEARLY ...

So after this horsehocky decision, please "splain" to me the difference between you and that Sodomite Charlie Crist running as a Democrat ?

Meh, equal blame to the GOP legislature for passing it, I still hope he beats the spray-tanned faggola, Charlene Crist.

For the record I backed “the establishment candidate”, Bill McCollum, in his 2010 primary against Scott. Scott attacked him from the right on immigration.
