That is, Cantor wasnt too liberal and he had not offended the conservative, Republican base with his promise of passing amnesty or his contemptuous decision to headline an April conference hosted by George Soros and organized labor. In fact if anything, the now defunct Virginia congressman had been TOO conservative! After all, hadnt Cantors campaign sent out direct-mail pieces just before last nights primary, promising that he was stopping the Obama-Reid plan to give illegal aliens amnesty?

This is an extremely important point - thanks for posting this (and don’t mind the thread flies).
The people who are REALLY freaked out over the Cantor loss are the RINOs. Yes, this indicates all sorts of threates to the Democrats. But the RINOs have always lived in the cracks, the grey areas between the sides, smiling at the conservatives and kissing their babies while stabbing them in the back at the same time.
What Cantor’s loss means is that conservatives can SEE them. They are no longer able to hide in the grey areas. They have the same shocked horror as troops who suddenly realize the enemy is using night-vision goggles.
And it’s about damn time.
