I miss the rule of law.

A week ago, I argued that Bowe Bergdahl must face court-martial proceedings for desertion. But the more I think about it the less likely I think it will happen.
When you consider the lengths the military went to hush up Bergdahl's desertion up to and including compelling members of his unit to sign non-disclosure agreements any proceeding would cause the Army great embarrassment and quite possibly do more harm to it than to Bergdahl. Under those circumstances, the military will avoid initiating proceedings at all costs.
Yet I believe that not pursuing the matter against Bergdahl will severely lower military morale. If there are no consequences for desertion then how can our military stand for honor? To add insult to injury, Bergdahl is receiving the finest medical care while 100,000 veterans continue to wait in line for theirs. Consequently, we might very well be see an exodus of people leaving their military careers....

Obama would just over rule it.
Presidential pardon.
0bama will not let it get to any point in which this will play out as Bergdahl being anything but a victim. There will be no court martial. He’ll get an honorable discharge, his own shrink at the VA (so he doesn’t have to wait for an appointment), then will go on medical retirement and get $2,500/month tax-free for the rest of his life, due to he will be deemed “disabled”.
He’ll come out as gay and everything will be fine.
Target and General Mills will sponsor the cancelled hometown parade.
He’ll jump Ellen’s couch and be on Dancing with the Stars.
After that he’ll run for US Senator for Massachusetts and win after tossing his medals over the White House fence.
Keith Ellison will swear him in on a koran.

Of course not. Not only will they not court marshal him they’ll give him back pay and proclaim him a hero.
Sadly, I think the “Perfumed Princes” at the Pentagon are in cahoots with Obama on this one.
Bergdahl was disced a miss by the Coast Guard, and needed a waiver to join the Army. He either got that waiver or the requirement was ignored.
He’d walked away before. The Army didn’t hammer him then.
Bergdahl on trail equals the policies of the US Army on trail.
Perfumed Princes don’t want that, Obama doesn’t want the negotiations looked at, so no charges.
Too many bad things come out in discovery phase of trials. It would be a slam dunk in a sane world.................
Like just about everything else in this criminal enterprise (the Obama administration)it will not be pursued if it makes Obama look bad.
Look at all the things Holder has refused to prosecute. The IRS scandal, gunrunning, voter intimidation...

Failing that, he can certainly succeed in Maryland.
I miss the rule of law.
If he “walks”, someone, perhaps an ex military will find him and we may never hear from Bergdahl again.
At worst, for Bergdahl, a field grade article 15, loss of a stripe and a month’s worth of base pay. The Army claims justice served via Article 32, lengthy courts martial is avoided and Bergdahl walks with an honorable discharge. Presidential pardon not required, Bergdahl fades away. That’s the way I see it playing out under this administration.
I wish I could laugh at all your ideas there, but in today’s reality, everything you listed is completely possible to do or to attempt in public.
