Some encouragement:

“Nil desperandum, — Never Despair. That is a motto for you and me. All are not dead; and where there is a spark of patriotic fire, we will rekindle it.”

— Samuel Adams

“If any should say, it is in vain for them as individuals to be vigilant, zealous and firm in pursuing any measures for the security of our rights, unless all would unite: I would reply: Ages are composed of seconds, the earth of sands, and the sea of drops, too small to be seen by the naked eye. The smallest particles have their influence.

Such is our state, that each individual has a proportion of influence on some neighbor at least; he, on another, and so on; as in a river, the following drop urges that which is before, and every one through the whole length of the stream has like influence.

We know not, what individuals may do. We are not at liberty to lie dormant until we can, at once, influence the whole. We must begin with the weight we have. Should the little springs neglect to flow till a general agreement should take place, the torrent that now bears down all before it, would never be formed.

These mighty floods have their rise in single drops from the rocks, which, uniting, creep along till they meet with another combination so small that it might be absorbed by the travelers foot. These unite, proceed, enlarge, till mountains tremble at their sound.

Let us receive instruction from the streams, and without discouragement, pursue a laudable plan.”

— Nathaniel Niles

“Forewarned, forearmed, the price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”

— Frederick Douglass, “The Nation’s Problem,” 1890

Grab your iphone and get going!

Seriously, no matter what happens in this world, God is still in charge and if you put your trust in Him, the world cannot defeat you.

With regards to the morbid obesity, start changing that now. Not tomorrow - now. Do it by going to the paleo diet. This is not a fad diet, this just means eating nothing processed. Eat all the meat, veggies and fruits you want (although, in your case, if there is true morbid obesity, you might want to be careful about the types of meats you eat. Perhaps you should consult a dietician).

I have known some morbidly obese people and it is heart-breaking to know how much of life's simple pleasures they are missing out on because they are willingly physically handicapping themselves. Additionally, you have to remember that your physical condition can and will affect your mental health, as in, you may become depressed from being fat and the accompanying lack of activity. I'm talking biochemical cause of depression, not just "being fat sucks". If you find yourself being swallowed by depression, your physical condition may be the cause.

If you don't have a true medical condition which causes your obesity (these are really rare), then I recommend the paleo diet and minimum of 1 hour of walking per day (it doesn't have to be fast - at first), and be glad you're a man, because you can lose weight much more easily than a woman. If your condition simply won't allow this, then seek other medical options, but get it done. Your life and outlook will change. Good luck.

Is there an alternative meaning to: Grow up.?

http://www.wordreference.com/es/translation.asp?tranword=grow+up

On it's own, it's considered a interjection, which is normally interpreted as "stop acting childishly".

Was it really necessary to take a parting shot at him?

Good advice, but I'll add one thing: if you are morbidly obese, consult a doctor before embarking on a major diet change.

However, I wouldn't consider surgery unless nothing else works. I think there are two many risks to any surgery to do it "first".

Ok, you and I just had a disagreement in open forum. Will you also post an opus because of it? andy did.

So if you also do the same, I will also take you to task for overreacting.

Did he? Or did you just assume he did, and use the opportunity to take a parting shot at him, knowing he wouldn't respond?

So if you also do the same, I will also take you to task for overreacting.

I don't think it was andy that overreacted. He isn't the one taking parting shots as he bid goodbye.

What do you mean “Did he”? Of course he did. I assume nothing. Except I do assume you didn’t click the link in my post 7.

I was on that thread posting with Andy. So I know what you don’t. And so the next time you go accusing someone of “attacking” someone else, be sure you know what you’re talking about.

I think you might want to rethink your position. Read some of the posts and see that you belong here.
We all get down sometimes. I have been in that boat a number of times. I am obese and need to chop about 100 lbs. It makes me slow and depresses me on occasion.
Get away from the keyboard. As suggested walk some. If the weather is good go outside and just drink in the God given beauty of our earth. It helps restore me.
Life goes on.
One thing to ponder. We live in a age of too much information.]
WE have 24/7 news. The world has always been on the brink. As an historian trust me on this one. As for our fair republic, members of the 2nd Continental Congress were trading with the F’ing BRITISH. In 1814 the governor of Mass. was treating with the British to secede and join them!!!!!! The Turks were delayed by poor weather and defeated at the gates of Vienna. 300 million years ago CO2 levels dropped to dangerous levels which would have destroyed all life on earth.
There feel better? The only thing that is different is we know about it the minute it happens.

And I suspect you are dancing with glee because you think you "forced a long-time member into leaving FR", just because he had the audacity to disagree with you.

Except I do assume you didn’t click the link in my post 7.

No, I didn't follow your link. I looked at his posting history over the past few weeks, and I saw the usual set of FR bullies piling on him. It wasn't just that thread.
