Bergdahl could return to active duty after treatment

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl could return to active duty after he completes medical treatment for being held captive for five years by the Taliban, Army officials said Friday.

“The goal of reintegration is to return a soldier to duty,” said Colonel Bradley Poppen, a psychologist who will be treating the 28-year-old Idaho native at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

Bergdahl returned to the US early Friday after spending 12 days in Germany as part of his recovery process. He was captured by the Taliban in 2009 and released May 31 in a swap that freed five high-level Taliban terrorists from Guantanamo Bay.

The former prisoner of war has chosen not speak to his parents since his release, officials said.

“It is a returnee’s choice to make that determination when, where and who they want to” reconnect with, said Poppen. “ I believe the family understands that process at this time.”

He said the family is not in Texas to welcome his son....

I agree. Sounds like he is somewhat of a sacrificial lamb to free the notorious 5 from Getmo and will attempt to return to the raghead battlefield as soon as he is able.

If he can return to duty after being shot for treason he’d be the first.

I noticed they used this word “reintegration” a lot as it relates to him which I thought was strange because it’s a term used in psychiatry that describes a patient who has recovered from a psychotic episode. So I would not be surprised in the least if that is the excuse they are going to give to the public: “It’s not desertion because he had a psychotic break with reality and he is all better now”. This is how liberals work, they use certain words to weasel out of things and all those letters he wrote bashing America, how he was heard on radio looking for the Taliban, how he could have been giving the Taliban info that resulted in the deaths of vets not to mention the ones who died looking for this sack of sh*t - He will get off scot free from all that because of his “mental issues” even though I bet there is not one scintilla of proof he ever had mental issues.

Misleading Title. Bergdahl never left active duty. He’s still on active duty status until seperated from the service. He most certainly won’t be re-assigned back to his former unit or any other operational unit. He’s in patient status assigned to BAMC and will probably stay there until he’s administratively seperated .

Not going to happen.

The guy got an early psyc discharge from the Coast Guard and it was a screw up to ever let him in the Army.

Then he willing deserted. After this, he will be out of the military.

They will try and give him an honorable discharge without a court-martial...but I cannot imagine that happening. He needs to be tried and at the very best ejected without honor, never to serve again. he deserves to spend 15 years at Leavenworth.

But we shall see what this bastardly, traitorous administration does.

They will try and give him an honorable discharge without a court-martial...

And they will succeed in doing so. No one above the rank of colonel wants to see him court-martialed. Better to quietly separate him from service, ASAP.

Then will come a book deal and an exclusive interview with Oprah. Bergdahl will end up very well off.
