From what I heard on a radio interview last week with a lawyer/accountant who is familiar with the legal technicalities of this kind of case, Sterling's real motivation is that he needs to get this case into a courtroom so he can claim that the NBA is forcing him to make the sale in a legal process instead of under the NBA's governing bylaws. From what this guy said, there are very favorable capital gains tax rules if you are being forced against your will to sell an asset in a legal process. This kind of thing is usually found in eminent domain proceedings. If I paid $500,000 for a commercial building and it's worth $2 million a couple of decades later, I am on the hook for capital gains taxes on the $1.5 gain if I sell the asset today. But from what this lawyer/CPA said, there is a more favorable tax treatment if I am forced to sell it to the state against my will so they can build a highway or public school there.

We'll see how this unfolds, I guess.

Local (Indianapolis) sportscaster, Dan Dakich, predicted this from a Day One.

He ought to go after some of the players as well - I’m sure that’s a target rich environment.

I know what mentally incompetent means. Is that the same as medically incompetent?

They could get rid of him because the league is private and all those entering have to sign papers saying you have to go by their rules.

Sterling made the mistake of letting his views on sensitive topics see the light of day into the media.
I agree with him in getting all these investigators to get the stuff on others, why should he be the only one not getting a free pass?

You are presuming any of them have a sense of shame or an ounce of decency. Facts nowhere in evidence.

True, but it doesn’t hurt to show theirs and the medias hypocrisy. Time to shine some light on those sanctimonious hypocrites.
