Politics: NPR poll of 2014 battleground states is disastrous for Dems

It’s an election season, and the polls are starting to hit with increased frequency. Today, we have a new one from NPR.

Most polls we’ve seen thus far have a national focus. Democrats aren’t doing well, but the data can be an unreliable midterm predictor because it includes a lot of states where there’s nothing in play. NPR decided to cut to the chase and find out what the electoral picture looked like in just 12 senatorial battleground states.

They polled Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and West Virginia.

If Democrats were hoping they’d find a reason to smile, they’re about to be sorely disappointed.

First up was Presidential approval - often a millstone around the neck of an unpopular Commander in Chief’s party and still the number one predictor of midterm results.

Disastrous?

Sorry, I don't see it.

Obama and the Democrats have had nothing but bad news for months.

But, incredibly, the Republican lead is only 46%-43% in the twelve battleground states.

That margin could be wiped out in one 24 hour news cycle.

More than a year ago, I predicted the GOP would win 4 Senate seats, and lose 3 House seats.

I think the Democrats will do an excellent job of turning out their base voters in November.

That’s an excellent website.

I used in 2008 and 2012.

And that is why there will be no election. A national crisis will happen and he will suspend the election. Call me crazy, but we never thought he would arm Al-Queda or sell weapons to Mexican drug cartels or ok list go on and on. IMHO

If the GOP brings immigration to a vote before November, they will cut their own throats. Unhappily, they like cutting their own throats! Whenever we tell them to go for the jugular, they go for their own...or ours!

If I read his map correctly, he is putting the Louisiana and Alaska as current GOP seats and he is only giving us a pickup of Arkansas incumbent seat by Cotton. That would be a plus six for the GOP because Begich and Landreau would be gone as well.

I’d have to look at it again. I was just reading his summary stats.

We need 6 to take the Senate, and we will get at least 6.

The Democrats are going to get crushed in Nov.

It will be the GOP that will get out it's vote, not the Democrats.
