Hillary Clinton says she and her husband arent truly well off, despite the fact that theyve made millions.
Clinton made the comment in an interview published Saturday night in The Guardian.
The exchange touched on the recent comment she made about how she and former President Bill Clinton were dead broke when they left the White House in 2001a statement many regarded as out of touch.
"But they don't see me as part of the problem," she said of voters, "because we pay ordinary income tax, unlike a lot of people who are truly well off, not to name names; and we've done it through dint of hard work," she said, laughing.
The Clintons have reportedly made $100 million since leaving the White House, The Guardian noted.
When the former secretary of State kicked off her book tour for Hard Choices earlier this month, she told ABC Newss Diane Sawyer that they were in debt 13 years ago.
"We came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt," Clinton said. "We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages, for houses, for Chelsea's education. You know, it was not easy."
In a live interview on ABCs Good Morning America the morning after it aired, Clinton clarified yet defended her remarks.
Let me just clarify that I fully appreciate how hard life is for so many Americans today, Clinton said. Its an issue that Ive worked hard on and cared about my entire adult life.
"Bill and I were obviously blessed. We worked hard for everything we got in our lives. We have continued to work hard. And we have been blessed the last 14 years. But I want to use the talents and resources I have to make sure people get the same chances, she added.
Clinton is considered the Democratic frontrunner for president in 2016 if she decides to run.
“..........Earlier this month, Bloomberg News reported that the Clintons have used tax methods to reduce estate tax levies.
To reduce the tax pinch, the Clintons are using financial planning strategies befitting the top 1 percent of U.S. households in wealth, Bloomberg News reported. These moves, common among multimillionaires, will help shield some of their estate from the tax that now tops out at 40 percent of assets upon death.
Couldn't say it with a straight face.
Hillary’s wealth 21.5 million dollars.
Her husband’s wealth is 80 million dollars.
If we were relly well of we would itimez all of bills soild underdinkys like regular olk regular folk wear um till you cant anymore then they become washable rags then toss away rags f them
For Hillary, there is no downside to continuing to push this nonsensical story. The type of people who might vote for her will either believe it, or admire her chutzpah.
No one in this country is well off with her threatening to be president.
We are all in danger from this evil woman and her predator husband.

Be sure to post this on all Hillary threads plus on Twitter and FB.
Yeh right, living rent free 8 years in the WH plus all the other expenses covered and on a presidential salary and they leave the WH and claim they were broke? Not buying the lying..
The POTUS pardon dough was all under the table (untaxed).
So those millions don’t count.....
Ping for that commercial where the little girl was saying, “we want more.” We want more!”
I wonder if Øbamacare covers her tin ear?
Naturally the Partisan Media Shills say nothing.
Thanks Cincinatus’ Wife.
They didn't own a house until they moved out of the WH and took everything not nailed down with them.
Hillary you were well off since the cattle futures era...my BSmeter is pinging.
“...not truly well off”? I wish she were “truly in prison” for her crimes. What a worthless subhuman degenerate.
She is just pissed that Algore has been able to scam more money.
Well off or not, they’re just plain ‘off’.
Not well off? Well, they’re doing pretty good for a pair of Arkansas grifters.
Hey lady. Get a clue. There are plenty of people across this country who work hard everyday but you and your husband are worth more than $100 million between the two of you because of your liberal elite connections and status as a former first family.
First, if you don’t think $100 million is “well off”, then you are definitely out of touch with the majority of the American people and the mere fact that you would make such a statement is an arrogant slap in the face of those people.
Second, if you think giving over-priced speeches to a bunch of adoring, ass-kissing, liberal sycophants is “hard work”, try doing what the average American does everyday just to break even. I can guarantee you that you wouldn’t cut the mustard.
And finally, if you think this country needs another Alinksy-loving liberal ideologue running the same old tired policies that have never worked throughout history, down our throats like you buddy Obama has, think again. The answer is we don’t want or need your failed policies again..
You and your husband, both pathological liars to curry favor and get your way, need to be put out to pasture for your remaining time, so you can’t do anymore damage to the country. Your socialist, communist ideals only benefit the power elite like you, not the people you lie about wanting to help. Give it a rest so the country can recover and get back on her feet again.
She talks, and we learn a lot about her innermost being. It seems to me that when she makes such statements, she is admitting that she is not grateful to God for the blessings she has received. Do you ever utter a prayer in thanksgiving, Hillary?
Instead she talks as though she does really not have that much wealth. How greedy can you get? What planet is she living on?
PS: I wonder if her husband is still going to Sunday services with a bible in his hand?
It’s true. Michael Moore’s butler was talking to Clinton’s personal chef - who told Kerry’s up-stairs maids that the Clinton’s are having a rough go of it.
